The Stalker is a variant of the Avenger patrol ship developed by Aegis Dynamics. When the standard Avenger fighter failed to connect with military users, Aegis adapted it as a police spacecraft with the addition of the Stalker Prisoner Transport Module, a system of cell and restraints that allowed safe prisoner transport. These changes also attracted bounty hunters to purchase the ship, in need of methods by which to bring in their targets alive. Although the Stalker was the first variant of the Avenger developed, its popularity eclipsed that of its parent model, leading many to incorrectly assume it was the original Avenger type.
