Mike “8bit” Murdoc, was born into poverty and a dangerous life on Castor (Corel IV) in the Corel system. By chance, a UEE recruiter had visited their poignant community with promises of glory, honor, and riches. Mike then made the difficult decision to leave his family one man short for the mines and joined the military. Serving honorably in the UEE, his friends called him “Doc” and occasionally “8bit” for his love of retro video games; many games so old that they even predated humankind’s first departure from Terra! With those credits, additional compensation from the military, and a very substantial loan…there were no longer any ties convincing him to remain on Castor. Murdoc decides to take to the stars with a MISC Freelancer Max to make the fortune his family could never dream of. Though raised under severe conditions on an unforgiving world, 8bit remains naively honest and helpful with everyone he meets.
