I prefer doing Salvage operations as I see the most potential to earn valuable modules, equipment, and cargo while selling the scrap for a clean profit with next to no initial investment --- apart from the ship. Naturally, Freight Hauling follows as larger hauling operations can potentially earn a large amount of money and are always in demand, however, this is assuming one has the initial investment. Mining is great for an initial investment as one can earn lots with little initial investment, but the potential to acquire modules and equipment is not there. I am not fond of combat as I have little to gain and I do not consider myself to be a skilled fighter pilot, but that does not mean that I am willing to be shot at without resisting either.
