N_L1ghten grew up on a struggling refinery platform in the asteroid belt of the Stanton System, far from the comfort of the United Empire of Earth. His father was an independent miner, taking risky contracts that corporations like ARGO Astronautics and Drake Interplanetary supplied equipment for but rarely worked themselves.
When N_L1ghten was sixteen, his father chased a dangerous mineral claim inside an unstable asteroid cluster. The job promised good pay—but the rock fractured under the mining lasers, destroying the asteroid and his father’s ship. The corporation wrote it off as a mining accident and closed the claim.
Refusing to leave the belt, N_L1ghten spent years learning the science of mining—fracture points, mineral resonance, and the art of splitting rock safely. Eventually he bought a worn mining rig and returned to the belt.
To him, mining isn’t just a job. Somewhere out there is the asteroid that killed his father—and one day he plans to crack it open.
