Why should I use Two-Step Authentication?

Two-step authentication adds an extra layer of security to your account. So even if your username/password is compromised, an unauthorized person cannot access your account without a unique access code.

I cannot find my username, password and email address in settings?

With the implementation of two-step authentication, these have been moved to a new section of Account settings called “Security”. Here you will find all the security settings for your account, including two-step authentication.

Do I have to have to enter a unique code every time that I want to login to my account?

It’s your choice! With the new two-step authentication, you have the ability to select devices that you use most often to login to your account and make them “trusted” devices for a certain period of time. This means that if you are always logging into your RSI account from your home computer, you can add it to your list of trusted devices and then you will not be required to enter a unique code every time you want to login.

Do I have to install the mobile authenticator app on my phone in order to use two-step verification?

No, you are not required to use the mobile app to have two-step authentication enabled. You can setup an email address instead, in order to receive the uniquely generated access codes to login to your account.

I have multiple RSI accounts. Am I allowed to have two-step authentication on more than one account?

Yes, if you have multiple accounts, you are able to secure them all. The mobile authenticator allows you register multiple RSI accounts on the app.

How do I login without access to the authenticator app or email?

You must have the authenticator app or an email address to initialize two-step authentication. Once it’s setup, you will have the ability to download or print 10 one-time use backup codes on the security settings page. These backup codes will allow you to access your account even if you don’t have access to your phone or email. Keep them with you to ensure you will always have access to your RSI account.

Do I have to use the RSI Authenticator app to enable two-step authentication?

No, the RSI two-step authentication is compatible with all TOTP/HOTP-based applications. There are a number of other authentication apps that can be used, such the “Google Authenticator” or “Authy”.

Can I remove Two-Step Authentication once it’s been added?

Yes, if you wish to remove two-step authentication all you have to do is login to your RSI account and disable this feature (click on the red ‘x’ beside the feature). You can reactivate two-step authentication at anytime.
