You're standing at the mouth of a cave; the yawning aperture suggests risk and reward in equal measure. Armed with some flares, a Salvo frag pistol, and a Pyro Multitool, you descend into the dark. Making the gamble. Taking the plunge. A little while later you emerge, sweating, panting. Your flares are gone, your pistol empty. You barely survived. It was risky to be sure, but you smile as you think of the gems weighing down your pack. Later, that smile keeps growing as you inspect your valuable haul from the comfort of your ship. Is that a proximity alert? That's odd, there shouldn't be anything along this route...
This is life among the stars. This is Star Citizen Alpha 3.7.
You've explored the stars and flown every inch of the traversable atmosphere. You've scoured the faces of planets, moons, and asteroids in pursuit of adventure. Now delve beneath the surface into fully immersive cave systems teeming with mystery, danger, and opportunity for those brave enough to risk it.
No longer is the noble trade of mining limited to those in the 'verse with a dedicated ship. Armed with a powerful Pyro Multitool, mineral hunters can take the profitable art of extraction wherever they may roam - on the surface of moons, planetary bodies, and beyond into subterranea.
Did you find valuable gems and ore in your underground exploits? Want to get them back to civilization and sold for cold, hard cash? Simply store them in your Personal Inventory, where they'll remain safe and at your disposal. And it doesn't end with mined minerals. The PU is chock full of items you can harvest or pick up, stash in your inventory, and use or sell later as you see fit.
With the debut of Quantum Enforcement, an all-new gameplay feature is unleashed upon the 'verse and unsuspecting pilots. Ships like the new RSI Mantis, outfitted with Quantum Enforcement Devices, are capable of pulling both NPC and player-piloted ships abruptly out of quantum travel. Once caught by the Quantum Snare, a dampener prevents the interdictee from fleeing, making these ships well suited to law enforcement practices. Or you know, whatever.
While the Mantis is adept at making outlaws and scalawags think twice before spooling up their quantum drives, interdiction can be unpredictable and there's a chance players could find themselves precariously outgunned. So why not put a posse together and give your victim a real nasty surprise? Now you can share the mayhem, mission objectives, and spoils of your exploits with other players.
You now have even more ways to define yourself in the Star Citizen universe, as the character customizer continues to be both expanded and refined. Impossible you say? Not when blending improvements are expanding the options for unique faces, while UI refinements have significantly streamlined the entire experience of making you you in the PU.
We understand landing can be tough, but the Intelligent Flight Control System continues to adapt to the needs of the players as well as the game. With Proximity Assist, Hover Mode is aided by a system that automatically detects nearby obstacles and slows your ship down accordingly. Here's to better control and happy landings!
But hey, why try out this new landing tech in your own precious ship? With the ability to rent ships from selected shops around the 'verse, you don't have to risk your favorite ride. In-game currency gets you the chance to take a number of ships for a spin with maximum thrills and limited liability.
In a brand new Star Marine map, the radical Outsiders cult has taken over an old terraforming facility on Leir II. Join the Marine task force and attempt to take it back, or join the loyal cultists and defend the honor of the good doctor himself, Dr. Marcus Fayel.
Meanwhile, over in Arena Commander, the pirates are swarming. With reconfigured enemy waves, an increased play area, and a new heavy-headed boss to battle, it’s the ideal time to jump in and test your mettle.
See what the developers have to say about the new features, content, and improvements they're introducing in Alpha 3.7.
