Son of a UEE Navy officer by the name of Lt. Ma'suud Urey and modest mining concern owner Xiomata Siobain. Othanyl spent most of his early years on Terra before moving to Earth at 18 with his father who was summoned by the UEE Navy on assignment. Disgusted with the conditions of Earth and its exhaustion of all natural resources, Othanyl preferred the openness of space and the natural beauty of worlds untouched. He is always encouraged by his father to earn his citizenship. But that would require a stint in the Navy, with his father's name backing him up of course.
His mother Xiomata is soft spoken, with serious eyes. She would prefer him to take up an honest, reliable career hauling, salvaging, or diving into her company as a mining foreman. She was always the smarter one, and wealthier too, but always had his best interest at heart. He was gifted her pragmatism, but unfortunately, also his father's love of adventure. The one thing he definitely received from them both was desire of a life in space.
