I've been playing video games since we got "Pong" back in 1976. I prefer RPG games (Witcher, Fallout, etc., all the way back to the Ultima, Zork, etc.) but I have played some simulator games in the past as well (mostly Mechwarrior). I also used to be into FPS games (TF, TFC, CoD, MoH, etc.) but my "twitch" skills aren't what they used to be. Getting old sux.
What pulled me into SC was that it wasn't just about flying ships and combat. I do enjoy flying my ships, but I like that I can get out and "stretch my legs" too. I fly with a HOSAS setup (two VKB Gladiator NXT's), Tobii ET, and Voice Attack.
I plan on doing trading/hauling, exploring, combat, salvaging, and mining.
On a side note, I've been writing code since '82 (professionally since '93) and it's been interesting to me to watch CIG's development process as they make what I hope will be an amazing game!
