History

The Galactic Empire, also known as the First Galactic Empire or simply the Empire, and later as the Old Empire, was the dictatorship that replaced the Galactic Republic at the end of the Clone Wars. Though the Empire rose to power by promising to bring order to the galaxy, it oversaw a period of military rule and aggressive expansion. The subsequent Imperial Era would last only two decades, for it was eventually overthrown by the Alliance to Restore the Republic in the Galactic Civil War, but not before the sovereign star systems of the galaxy had been largely conquered by the Empire’s forces.

Manifesto

As a regime, the Empire emboldened those who wanted to be cruel and excise power over others. Many stormtroopers would take advantage of the Empire for their own personal gain, including using their station to take advantage of the helpless and those weaker than them. The regime was also one of imperialism, with the aim to become a universal superpower. The Sith drew power from the dark side and fear in the population, as the Sith believed that fear was an important tool. Even though Palpatine himself did not display bigotry to aliens, many of his citizens were. Their prejudice for alien groups turned alien groups into scapegoats for past troubles.
