2/24/2015 – Welcoming a New Director

To all members and cherished affiliates,

Please join me in welcoming NightWolf, our new Executive Director of Mining Operations. He brings with him years of experience, unique insight and a stellar safety record unmatched in the industry. The Mining Operations department is a newer department within Apollo, but we expect it to begin burgeoning almost right out of the gate along with Salvage Ops.

Both teams will be working closely with one another, coordinating to provide for a strong backbone here within Apollo. Both of those teams can rely on our core product, Logistics, to provide ample protection and transport of goods and personnel during any major operation. So, once again, thank you for coming aboard, NightWolf, and I believe I speak for the entire organization when I say we look forward to working with you going forward.

Manifesto

Who are we?

Apollo Logistics Trading and Salvage is primarily a logistics company. Are you an exploration firm with ships stationed in the fringes of the known galaxy? We can help supply them. Or are you a major manufacturer who’d rather not deal with the headaches and overhead of transporting your raw materials to your factories on your own? We’ve got your back. Or are you a corporation that would like to charter some of our luxury liners for a cruise past some of the most gorgeous places in the galaxy? We will be happy to provide. No matter what your logistics need is, we strive to provide the right tool, personnel and care for the job.

What do we provide?

Here at ALTS, we provide three main services to our customers.

  • Logistics1
  • Trading2
  • Salvage3

Along with these three primary functions, we provide several other types of contracts on an as-needed or as-requested basis, sometimes in conjunction with the above services. For more information on each, click the appropriate footnote.

Why Apollo?

Simply put, we’re pretty serious. We’ll treat your cargo, passengers, hull or precious natural resources as if they were our own, from the start of the contract to the final invoice. We offer 100% insurance on all of our contracts for only a small nominal fee4 due at contract signing. Should anything happen resulting in a partial or total loss, our team of experienced adjusters will make sure you receive your reimbursement within five to ten business days. Our pilots and crew are top-notch, abide by some fairly stringent regulations and are trained and vetted by senior staff here within Apollo. Lastly, we are building networks of affiliations designed to get you the best service for your credits. If it’s a job we can’t do for whatever reason, we will be able to connect you to a reliable resource within short order.

OOC Information

Mission Types
  • Resupply Logistics Runs
  • Long-haul high-volume, low-margin trade routes
  • Short-haul high-margin, low volume trade routes
  • Luxury Cruises
  • Derelict Recovery
  • Escort missions for any of the above
  • Miscellaneous Missions on an As-Needed basis

This means we’ll need people who are capable of many different roles, from long-haul pilots to navigators to fighter pilots and more. There won’t be a single “boring” role here. Everything done will be done for a reason, and will be necessary. For more player information and for how to join, please see our charter.

Play times?

24/7/365. Whenever you’re available, really. We’re a casual organization with mature members who have real lives outside of the game. That always comes first. But if you have some free time, want to shoot through a quick high-margin trade run and log in, we’ll try our best to have at least one other person available for you to play with! While we’re still currently small, we hope to change this in an effort to provide you all with the most immersive, and more importantly, fun experience that we can offer.

Miscellaneous Information

1 Logistics is, as stated, our primary service. We will transport anything legal from one point to another in the shortest time we can offer in the safest ways possible. The volume of product is of no consequence. The mass? We’ll even deliver capital ships with escorts if the price is right. All prices are negotiable and will be offered at contract signing. Recurring contracts are available for affiliates. Please contact any one of our sales and marketing team, or if they’re unavailable, any of our chief officers for more details.

2 Trading is our newest service available for our affiliates. We will play the market so you don’t have to. Don’t waste your time searching for the best deals, when we can do it for you for a mere 3% finder’s fee. No trade is too small, no trade is too large. For even greater savings, bundle your trade service with our top-notch Logistics1 service.

3 Salvage is another new service we can now offer our customers and affiliates. Did you lose a ship? If you have the rough coordinates for your hull’s location, we can provide an armed, escorted salvage service to return as much of the ship and its contents as possible to you. The fee is a mere 25% of the value of recovery plus any hazard fees for truly dangerous recoveries. The fees will be negotiated on return of the salvage. If nothing was recoverable, there is a nominal fee to cover labor and fuel, but nothing more will be charged.

4 Insurance is offered on all of our services. The fee is based on a percentage of the overall cost of the contract, depending on the kind of contract it is. High-margin, low-volume trades or transport contracts come with a higher risk than low-margin, high-volume contracts, and as such will command a higher premium. Ask our sales and marketing team for an insurance brochure before signing any contract.

OOC Charter

Why should I join?

There’s a few reasons from an OOC perspective:

  1. Mature, down-to-Earth senior staff: Seriously, we have careers. Families. Mortgages. That doesn’t make us stuffy. It just means we won’t be petty.
  2. Access to this group and the ability to work closely with numerous affiliate groups: No organization can stand alone. They can try, but they’ll likely fail. So we intend to create a network of organizations that all inter-operate closely, each picking up where the others leave off. This can have huge benefits down the line.
  3. ???: ??? ??? ???? ?? ??? ????? ?? ???.
  4. Profit!
  5. Nah, but seriously, the ???‘s were a stand-in for fun.

We’re a casual-to-regular organization with a corporate-style twist. The idea behind going with this model is to keep it away from a military-style command structure while still offering a decent organizational setup. The plan is to not get too top-heavy and to keep profit-sharing set up among “employees” in a fair, balanced manner. We don’t play favorites within the group and the in-character rules, while seemingly complex, help to make sure everyone can enjoy a fair, fun group. (Not all of the rules ICly need to be followed, as sometimes conflict can be fun! But don’t expect to get away with egregious violations.) Yes, there’s room to grow and move up the corporate ladder here. But we also only reward results, not politics.

Player Benefits:

  1. Profit Sharing: Seriously, this is the biggest benefit we’ve got. Transport can get boring and grind-y sometimes. Sometimes you want to go out and enjoy a low-profit combat mission, but don’t want to waste the time/insurance because you could be making profit somewhere. Well, go ahead and enjoy that combat mission! The rest of the group will subsidize it. You get a percentage of the profits every month regardless. This isn’t to say we reward laziness though! You’ll have to run a few longer missions on occasion to up your percentage if you want to go above “base salary.”
  2. Safety in Numbers: We may not grow to be the largest organization within the ‘verse. In fact, we don’t expect to even come close. However, through affiliations with other groups and through work within our own group, we’ll make sure someone’s always got your back, whether you’re still training in a base Aurora or running 1000’s of tons of material in an Idris.
  3. Maturity: This one’s a bit arbitrary. I’m not saying we don’t enjoy the occasional methane secretion joke or a good film like Spaceballs. We do! However, nobody from the senior staff is going to be a petty dick to you, nor are we going to play favorites. That’s part of the reason we went with a corporate structure, to particularly weed that crap out.
  4. Fun: This is the most important player benefit of ‘em all. Why? Star Citizen’s a game and as such, should be fun! Play how you want. Want to be a fighter? Go for it. Boarding party or defense against boarding parties? Sure. Space Trucker? You bet! Corporate-y HR dude? Well, I’m not sure how that’d be fun, but if you enjoy that sorta thing, we have some openings. I guess the point is, pick a role (or roles!) and play. Nobody here will judge you for it, and if you play it well, you’ll likely receive mad props/respect for it.

IC Rules TL;DR:

  1. Don’t be a jerk: What this means is please don’t harass, grief or otherwise hinder new players or other members of this or affiliate groups. We’re all friends/allies. Let’s treat each other as such, kay?
  2. Profit Sharing: Yeah, we do it. We try to keep it fair. At the end of an operation or contract, all the money goes to our central bank. This doesn’t mean you don’t get anything, though! It’ll be based on operation time and administrative time. Those with strong initiative are rewarded. The exact percentages and bonuses will be determined as Star Citizen comes closer to completion and the in-game currency’s value is discovered. So a lot of this is up to change going forward, but rest assured, we intend to make it fair for everyone.
  3. Disputes: Look, they’re going to happen. They happen in all organizations. The organizations that succeed, however, have a way of dealing with them peacefully. We’re no different. We’ll have things done internally, and as impartially as possible. In the event we can’t be impartial, we’ll turn to an affiliate group to help us out.
  4. Code of Conduct: Yeah, we’ve got one. Sort of. About 12% of one. When it’s written up, it’ll show up either here or in another location for us to distribute. But long story short, it’s just about how to conduct yourself when acting as a representative of the company. We don’t want to needlessly piss anyone off.
  5. Indemnification: This is just a bunch of legalese thrown in to make the whole thing sound official. It’s actually a bunch of BS we had fun throwing together. It’s non-binding and nobody will ever attempt to hold you to it. We promise. :)
