Following the official declaration of war against the Vanduul after the Vega Incident in 2945, the UEE established several research and development programs to greater understand the alien threat. Many of these programs started as little more than rag tag teams sent to salvage and dissect the wreckage of Vanduul ships, with hardly anyone able to comprehend, let alone reconstruct, damaged components or ships. After the first conflict ended, the scientists and salvage crews were left without funding or easy access to alien wrecks, that is until Esperia and Aopoa entered the market. Boosted by Xi’an expertise and resources, these companies contracted many of the former UEE R&D personnel. It was not long before they were adapting and building human-operated variants of Vanduul and Xi’an ships.

Arcane Technologies was founded in 2948 by senior scientists, engineers, and UEE military personnel that were once part of the covert Vanduul R&D programs. After the first conflict ended, the founding members formed their own organization, and were one of the first to sign up with Esperia and Aopoa. Over the years ARCTEK has become a leading procurer and supplier of alien technology. Operating in a variety territories both hostile and alien, ARCTEK employs some of the most cutting edge ships, weapons, and vehicles to accomplish its goals. ARCTEK also maintains a formidable security force rivaling that of entire UEE fleets, let alone its ability to operate independently outside of UEE territory.
