The Aurora Republic originally started as the Aurora Project, a clandestine separatist movement within the UNE/UPE in the early 2500’s. Civilians and Citizens disenfranchised with the UNE’s/UPE’s ineptitude, rampant overspending and hostility toward personal responsibility, rights, and freedoms flocked to the writings and sophitudes of Dr. Daniel J. Altier, PhD, who advocated a return to a traditional republic and its ideals.
The Aurora Project quietly grew in its popularity, and drew in many of the best and the brightest from across the UNE and UPE, including some of the most exceptionally wealthy. In the mid-2520’s, privately-funded expeditions of “jump point hunters” were organized in secret, looking for a private corner of the galaxy to act as a homeland territory where the Aurora Republic could be established. These “NavJumpers” hit pay dirt in 2530 in the Tiber system, when they found a previously undiscovered jump point leading to an undiscovered system.
The system possessed several habitable planets and ample resources, making it the perfect location for the Republic to be born. The secret Tiber-Aurora jump point was given the codename “Shangri-La” by the members of the Aurora Project, and all data and information regarding the newly discovered system was strictly compartmentalized and jealously guarded. Groups of colonists were organized and moved clandestinely through the Shangri-La jump point, and settlements were established on several worlds in the new system.
This system was named “Aurora”, and the home planet was named “Aster”. The Aurora Republic was officially formed on 16 October 2534, and the fledgling Republic flourished quickly and well within the years following. The system and the Republic remained a successful secret to the UEE until 2724, when a UEE jump point hunter discovered the Shangri-La jump point in the Tiber system, and the existence of the Aurora Republic and the Aurora system. With the proverbial cat out of the bag, the AR government officially began diplomatic contact with the UEE in early 2725.
Disaster struck in January, 2726 when a large clan of Vanduul entered the system from an unknown jump point. Initial clashes between AR military and the Vanduul quickly showed that Republic forces were horrifically outnumbered and outgunned, so leadership opted to abandon the system and flee through the Tiber-Aurora jump point as the military fought a desperate delaying action to cover the evacuation and withdrawal. The UEE military, once informed of the incursion and withdrawal, designates the Aurora System as VS-01, code named VECTOR. Six short years later, Vanduul clans started raiding Tiber from both the Orion and Vector jump points, and the Aurora Republic, having seen this happen before, immediately fled through the* Virgil* system to the quinternary systems of Nyx, Pyro, Castra, Stanton and Terra.
To recruit, train and support quality individuals who share the mission and vision of our organization.
The mission of the Aurora Republic is to encourage and inspire others to come together and experience amazing stories through shared adventures.
The Aurora Republic aspires to create a future we can be excited about, to inspire others to dream boldly, act courageously, and live with a purpose. We create a culture of excellence and service to all through rugged individualism and organizational exceptionalism.
Centuries ago, before it was replaced by the UEE Imperial Standards Dictionary, the Cambridge English Dictionary defined citizenship as “the state of having the rights of a person born in a particular country,” AND, “carrying out the duties and responsibilities of a member of a particular society.”
The Aurora Republic recognizes the inherent rights of individuals. We don’t grant them. We don’t permit them. We recognize what is already there.
Privileges are not rights. They are granted by the Aurora Republic. Think of them as perks.
Citizenship is a two way street. We have expectations of our citizens. The Aurora Republic is built from men and women who work hard and obey the law. We don’t care where you come from. We care where you are going.
