“Built in the black, forged in the black.”
ARCHIVAL FILE: THE HISTORY OF BLACK HORIZON HEAVY INDUSTRIES
2942 – 2948: The Crucible (The Kilian and Odin Deployments)
Before the corporate banners were ever printed, the foundation of BHHI was forged in the active war zones of the United Earth Empire Navy.
• The Intersect: Commander Khad Rogo, an elite decorated Strike Pilot, and Logistics Technician Keira “Rivet” Braddok were deployed to the frontline fleet tenders operating in the Kilian and Odin Systems.
• The Odin Incident: During a classified, catastrophic stealth ambush in the Odin asteroid belts, Commander Rogo defied direct retreat orders from naval high command to anchor his compromised vessel, saving the trapped engineering crew below. In those sparking corridors, he pulled a stubborn Rivet away from an overheating reactor core. This shared brush with death permanently cemented their bond and left both deeply disillusioned with the callousness of the UEE military machine.
2949: Walking Away from the Empire
Refusing subsequent naval promotions that would tie them to a desk or force them to treat crews as expendable corporate assets, Khad Rogo cashed out his military bonds and officially retired from active service. Rivet immediately packed her gear, threw her uniform in a footlocker, and followed him. Pooling their resources, military payouts, and tactical connections, they purchased their first industrial hull, stepping away from the UEE’s rigid bureaucracy to find absolute freedom out in the lawless sectors of the black.
2950 – 2954: Setting the Foundation
Operating initially as independent contractors, Khad and Rivet quickly realized that solo industrial operations in deep space were a meat-grinder for standard civilian crews.
• The Strategic Philosophy: Combining Khad’s rigid military tactical discipline with Rivet’s mastery of scrap-engineering and “Drake Interplanetary” mechanics, they formulated a unique operational philosophy: heavy industrial extraction backed by capital-class military protection.
• The Launch: Black Horizon Heavy Industries was officially incorporated. The company bypassed safe, corporate-taxed UEE sectors entirely, establishing its primary mining and salvage operations directly in high-risk, high-yield unmonitored sectors where corporate competitors were too afraid to fly.
2955 – Present: The Modern Pocket Fleet
Today, BHHI stands as a premier, self-sustaining independent industrial outfit. Moving away from solo vessels, the company transitioned into carrier-group operations. By executing a brilliant multi-box tactical strategy, Captain Khad-Rogo commands heavy industrial extraction in the field while Chief Engineer Rivet operates the bridge terminals, keeping the fleet secure behind heavily armored capital hulls and automated point defense networks. Guided by their core ethos, the company answers to no empire and continues to pull massive wealth from the darkest corners of the verse.
THE BLACK HORIZON HEAVY INDUSTRIES MANIFESTO
A Declaration of Sovereignty, Grit, and Operational Intent.
We, the spacers of Black Horizon Heavy Industries, refuse to be cogs in the heartless bureaucracy of the United Earth Empire or expendable assets on a corporate mega-corporation’s ledger. Forged in the crucible of frontline military service and disillusioned by the callousness of the core worlds, we have claimed our freedom out in the black.
This manifesto dictates our absolute views, our unshakeable motives, and our operational intentions across the stars.
I. OUR INTENTIONS
• Total Resource Control: We intend to deploy our specialized carrier-fleet configurations deep into high-risk, unmonitored sectors to extract high-yield raw materials, refined ore, and valuable salvage that timid corporate entities are too afraid to touch.
• Self-Sustaining Logistics: We intend to operate entirely independently of civilian starports. By leveraging capital-class mobile bases like our RSI Polaris and versatile fleet platforms like our Anvil Liberator, we maintain our own automated repair, rearm, refuel, and medical infrastructure right out in the black.
• The Shuttle Loop: We intend to quietly and efficiently transport our massive cargo hauls from deep-space asteroid fields to major station refineries using compact, low-signature shuttles like our Drake Golem OX, ensuring maximum profit with minimal external interference.
II. OUR MOTIVES
• Uncompromising Freedom: Our primary motive is absolute sovereignty. We answer to no corporate oversight, pay no tribute to bloated bureaucratic entities, and follow nobody’s chain of command but our own.
• Crew Integrity First: Having witnessed the military machine write off good crews as acceptable losses, BHHI is built on a blood-pact of mutual survival. We protect our own. Every credit hauled is a testament to the crew that extracted it, and no asset is ever left behind.
• Wealth Through Grit: We do not seek easy contracts in heavily policed sectors. We are motivated by the challenge of the frontier—turning raw, untamed space debris and fractured asteroids into massive corporate wealth through hard manual labor and tactical precision.
III. OUR VIEWS
• On the UEE and Megacorps: We view the Empire and its corporate proxies as parasitic structures that bleed independent pilots dry through taxes, fines, and restrictive regulations while offering nothing but empty promises of security in return.
• On Frontier Security: We view peace as something you build yourself with heavy armor and military-grade steel. True security out in lawless space isn’t a piece of paper—it is the sight of automated Point Defense Cannons tracking hostile vectors and a synchronized combat escort launch.
• On the Black: We view the vacuum not as an empty void of danger, but as a vast, wealthy horizon meant for those with the tactical discipline, structural grit, and engineering stubbornness to claim it.
THE OFFICIAL CHARTER OF BLACK HORIZON HEAVY INDUSTRIES
The Directives, Code, and Public Rules of the Fleet.
Membership within Black Horizon Heavy Industries is a privilege reserved for those who possess tactical discipline, industrial grit, and an unshakeable commitment to the crew. We do not answer to the UEE, and we do not bow to mega-corporations. We answer to each other.
Every pilot, miner, salver, and engineer flying under the BHHI emblem shall strictly abide by the following five core directives:
ARTICLE I: THE COMRADERY BOND (NO ASSET LEFT BEHIND)
• The Rule: Every member of BHHI is bound by a blood-pact of mutual survival. You protect your crewmates with your life.
• The Execution: Abandoning a crew member in the black, fleeing an industrial site while an ally is pinned down by hostiles, or failing to respond to a BHHI distress call is ground for immediate, permanent dishonorable discharge. If a ship goes down, we launch extractions. No exceptions.
ARTICLE II: OPERATIONAL RESTRAINT & INFORMATION SECURITY
• The Rule: Loose lips sink carrier groups. The internal logistics, mining locations, cargo manifests, and fleet movements of BHHI are strictly classified.
• The Execution: Members shall never broadcast coordinates of high-yield asteroid zones or salvage wrecks on public spectrum channels. Furthermore, coordinates of our primary mobile capital bases—such as active operating sectors for the RSI Polaris or Anvil Liberator—must never be shared with non-affiliated pilots.
ARTICLE III: TACTICAL DISCIPLINE UNDER FIRE
• The Rule: We are an industrial outfit run with military precision. When hostiles breach our operational airspace, chaos is our enemy.
• The Execution: In combat scenarios, the chain of command is absolute. If the Captain orders you to hold fire while the automated Point Defense Cannons (PDCs) track a target, or orders an immediate scramble launch of the Anvil Arrow escort, you execute without hesitation or debate. Save the bargaining for the station bars.
ARTICLE IV: THE SYSTEM INTEGRITY CLAUSE
• The Rule: A clean ship is a surviving ship. Every member is required to respect the vessel grids, components, and resource networks.
• The Execution: Cargo must always be snapped tightly onto the designated SCU cargo grids (monitored by Chief Engineer Rivet) to prevent physical shifting during quantum travel. Handheld tools, medical gel, and ammunition must be returned to the dedicated armory lockers—not scattered in the corridors. If you break a component, you report it to engineering immediately.
ARTICLE V: SOVEREIGN INDEPENDENCE
• The Rule: BHHI answers to no empire. We trade on our own terms and protect our own sovereignty.
• The Execution: While members are expected to maintain professional civilian interactions at major trading hubs, you shall never compromise the company’s independent status by signing exclusive utility or defense contracts with UEE military proxies or predatory mega-corporations. We pull our wealth from the black, and we answer only to the Captain.
FAILURE TO COMPLY
Violation of this charter disrupts the structural safety and financial sovereignty of the organization. Violators will have their hangar access codes revoked, their shares in the corporate refined ore yields forfeited, and will be marooned at the nearest planetary space pad without transport.
