The Chin Gang roared into existence sometime around 2954, when a small group of adrenaline junkies decided that flying ships was fun—but flying too close to the ground was even better. At the center of it all was their fearless (and often clueless) leader, Chinshield, a man with an unshakable belief that physics were just “polite suggestions.” What began as a casual group of friends showing off their hover bikes around Lorville quickly became a casual hoverbike and traditional motorcycle org, known for daring stunts, chaotic races, and leaving a trail of smoke, debris, and laughter wherever they went.
Chinshield’s first great “victory” came during the now-infamous Hurston Canyon Rally. Determined to impress the crowd, he attempted to jump his Dragonfly across a canyon that was—according to his own calculations—“probably fine.” The jump started perfectly. The landing, however, involved three cartwheels, a broken thruster, and Chinshield walking away unscathed while his bike slid for half a kilometer on fire. The moment was immortalized on Spectrum and became the Chin Gang’s recruitment ad: “Join us. Gravity’s optional.”
Over time, the Chin Gang became legends of controlled chaos. They raced Cyclones across icy plains, drag-raced in low orbit, and once attempted to “surf” a moving Starfarer while refueling mid-flight. Chinshield’s proudest moment was the “Jumptown Wheelie,” when he tried to ride his hoverbike through a firefight to deliver med supplies. He succeeded—but accidentally rammed into a Cutlass, knocking himself into the medbay he was supposed to deliver to. His crew still insists that was the most efficient delivery in gang history.
Now, the Chin Gang’s name echoes across Stanton—synonymous with reckless courage and slapstick glory. Under Chinshield’s wild grin and dented helmet, the gang continues to chase speed, glory, and occasional medical attention. Whether it’s a race, a rescue, or a random explosion, you can always count on the Chin Gang to show up late, loud, and laughing. As Chinshield likes to say before every stunt: “If it ain’t broke, give me a second.”
