Path To Glory was founded on 4th July 2005. It was created by three gamers, two of which remain to this very day. Battlefield 2 had just come out and was the “big thing” to be playing and Path to Glory jumped right in securing enough funds to set up four 64 slot servers for 6 months.
Path To Glory was founded on 4th July 2005. It was created by three gamers, two of which remain to this very day. Battlefield 2 had just come out and was the “big thing” to be playing and Path to Glory jumped right in securing enough funds to set up four 64 slot servers for 6 months. Less than two months later, Path to Glory had managed a rare feat by having the most popular Battlefield 2 Server in the world. We held on to top spot out of 5000+ servers until February 2006.
BF2
Off the back of our success with our City Maps Only server we had accrued over 70 Battlefield players in our ranks, spanning around the globe and in February of this year, had set up an independent [PTG] Squad based purely in North America. Battlefield 2 was still the big game so we carried on playing it throughout the year but there were other games that had us for many hours such as Toca Race Driver 3 and the old favourites Battlefield Vietnam, and Battlefield 1942.
With the clan refusing to buy Battlefield 2142 due to our protest against in game advertising, we switched our game of choice over to the Call of Duty franchise with their new game, Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare. This year saw us compete competitively in the Enemy Down Leagues and Ladders. With no new Battlefield game on the Horizon, we started to take out time from gaming towards the end of the year.
Path to Glory took a sabbatical for three years. This was mainly due to one of the clan leaders becoming a dad to three and so could not commit the time necessary to lead a gaming clan. A couple of members carried our name on though and in doing so, kept the clan alive. Nothing new on the gaming front seemed to come out either which also didn’t help.
Battlefield 3 was the buzz word for this year. With the said babies of the clan leader now grown up somewhat, he was able to spend more time within the clan and along with the core [PTG] members who had been part of the clan since year 1, set out to reinstate the clan to its former life. The first step in this rejuvenation was to install a Clan Council to hold monthly meetings to sort out any clan issues. This meant not one person had control of Path to Glory’s decisions, but a democratic group of core [PTG]. Upon release of Battlefield 3, [PTG] was once again, there ready and waiting with 64 slot servers to run.
To hold the number 1 server in the world in any game in no mean feat. To do it for two games, would be considered almost impossible, yet against the odds, and with confirmed Server numbers in excess of 10,000! Path to Glory made it to Rank 1 again… We are confident no other Server owner has held number 1 in both Battlefield 2 and Battlefield 3 making us potentially the only Gaming Clan to have done so.
2012 also saw our first Clan Meet Up at the Insomnia Gaming LAN party. With over 3000 gamers in attendance it was a great experience and for some of us, the first team we had ever met in the 7 years of being in [PTG].
2013 and a new game was on our radar. Planetside 2 is a MMOFPS game, uses a brand new game engine, and supports hundreds of players in continuous large scale conflict. Within our short time in the game, we have amassed over 400 members in our Outfit in game and are looking to expand on this over the coming months and years. This new direction is not our only one though as Battlefield 4 came out towards the end of the year and we jumped straight in to figure out the best possible service we could offer on our servers. Many regulars from our Battlefield 3 servers came with us and before 2013 was out, we were the highest ranked UK Battlefield 4 Server.
2014 started off with a bang. After securing the UK Number 1 Battlefield 4 server at the tail end of 2013, we went on to claim the world number 1 Battlefield 4 Server. We believe this achievement when added with our BF2 and BF3 stats is unique in the gaming world and must be one of only a handful of servers, if not the only one to have reached world number 1 in Battlefield 2, Battlefield 3, and Battlefield 4. An achievement we are truly proud of.
2014 also saw us hold our inaugural Raffle to reward one of our VIP’s with over 50 games. The total prize pool was worth in excess of £140 and was completely funded by [PTG] members. Further more, we wanted a non [PTG] to win it and so no [PTG] member was eligible to participate. Our VIP Service is awarded to players who donate money to our server funds meaning we can continue to offer a great server for players to enjoy the game in. Those who donate would benefit from jumping the queue to get in one of servers if it was full and they would also be added to the autobalance whitelist. Both benefits are hugely popular and so to add on the chance of winning stuff in a raffle was like giving them the cherry on top. We aim to hold these raffle’s throughout the year, pretty much once the prizepot is of a healthy state. We’re not even a quarter of the way through 2014 and so far we have achieved a lot but we’re not one to rest on our laurals so look out for more from [PTG] throughout 2014 and beyond.
To have fun. We have an age range from 7-70 of the current members in the clan. We’re not about serious gaming, we’re about having serious fun whilst gaming.
Apart from the obvious rules regarding no racism, sexism or bullying, we don’t really ask much from you as a member of the clan. You don’t need to be online each and every night. Just whenever suits you, we’re quite relaxed on that front. If you do decide to leave, all we ask is that you are courteous and let us know. We find many do stick around though as they like the half and half atmosphere we provide. Organised gaming but without the stress.
