History

The Croshaw Reclamation Forge traces its roots to the chaotic early days of extrasolar expansion. Founded in 2275 by a consortium of Earth-based engineers and venture capitalists, CRF began as Verdant Horizon Terraforming Ltd., one of dozens of private companies that rushed into the newly discovered Croshaw system after Nick Croshaw’s historic jump in 2271.

Our ambition was bold: terraform the barren super-Earth Croshaw IV, transforming it into a second Angeli. We poured billions into atmospheric processors, seeding drones, and orbital habitats, staking claims amid the system’s Lagrange points near the Daedalus and Icarus asteroid clusters. But reality crushed our dreams. Like so many rivals, we underestimated the crippling logistics of supply runs through the unstable Croshaw-Sol jump point – manual piloting by “Jumpers,” vanishing ships, and endless delays bankrupted us by 2290. Competitors bickered over mineral rights while our rigs sat idle, corroded by Croshaw I’s acid smog carried on solar winds.

Refusing to abandon our foothold, the survivors repurposed our terraforming fleet. Massive atmospheric refiners became asteroid smelters, hauling scrap from the depleted Daedalus and Icarus fields – the Empire’s oldest mining zones, picked clean over centuries but still yielding enough for niche alloys. We rebranded as Croshaw Reclamation Forge, pivoting to industrial manufacturing: producing durasteel components, weapon casings, and ship hulls from system refuse. To safeguard our ops from claim-jumpers and opportunistic raiders drawn to Croshaw’s gateway status, we stood up a defense wing – hardened pilots and mercs flying armed haulers.

Today, CRF thrives in the shadows of Angeli’s seismic spires and Vann’s aurora-lit outposts. We supply UEE contractors and frontier corps with reliable gear, running factories in low-orbit stations around Croshaw IV. We don’t pirate – that’s bad for business – but in the gray zones of Nul or Rhetor jump lanes, we turn a blind eye to “independent traders” fencing hot cargo. From failure, resilience. We’re the forge that never cools.
