The origins of the Crimson Suns trace back to the earliest years of Martian colonization during humanity’s aggressive expansion across the Sol System. Mars was still a hostile frontier — its cities unfinished, its atmosphere unstable, and its colonies vulnerable to piracy, sabotage, and corporate warfare.
At the time, massive resource corporations competed violently for control of Martian oil reserves, mineral extraction zones, underground water deposits, and terraforming infrastructure. The UEE lacked the manpower to fully secure the growing settlements, leaving corporations and civilians exposed to raiders and criminal syndicates operating beyond regulated space.
To fill that void, several private security groups were contracted by industrial leaders and colonial administrators. Among them was a small but highly effective protection force operating out of the southern Martian extraction belts.
That force would eventually become known as The Crimson Suns.
The name originated from the blood-red Martian sunsets under which the company conducted many of its earliest defensive operations. Stories spread quickly among settlers of armored operators emerging through Martian dust storms to repel pirate attacks and recover kidnapped workers.
Within decades, the Crimson Suns developed a reputation for brutal efficiency, contract loyalty, and survival against overwhelming odds.
The Corporate Wars Era
As Martian industry expanded, tensions between rival corporations escalated into covert conflicts commonly referred to as the Corporate Wars. Assassinations, sabotage, data theft, convoy raids, and private militias became common throughout the system.
The Crimson Suns evolved from a defensive security force into a fully operational private military company during this era.
Their operators were employed to:
Protect CEOs and executive families
Defend mining colonies and refineries
Escort high-value cargo convoys
Eliminate pirate factions
Conduct deniable black operations
Recover stolen resources and personnel
Unlike many corporate mercenary groups of the era, the Crimson Suns avoided political entanglements. Their loyalty remained with the contract itself rather than any ideology or government.
This earned them both respect and suspicion.
While some viewed them as honorable professionals, others saw them as dangerous opportunists willing to work for any side capable of paying.
The Bloodline Tradition
Over time, service within the Crimson Suns became generational.
Families of veteran operators raised children within the culture of the organization. Sons and daughters inherited combat training, tactical knowledge, and loyalty to the company from an early age. Entire bloodlines became tied to the faction’s identity.
By the 29th century, many senior members of the Crimson Suns descended directly from the original Martian operators.
This created a deeply rooted internal culture centered around:
Loyalty to fellow operators
Respect through competence
Survival above ideology
Preservation of reputation
Completion of the contract
The organization became less of a company and more of a clan-like military brotherhood.
Expansion Beyond Sol
As humanity expanded farther into the galaxy, so did the Crimson Suns.
The company established operations across multiple systems, taking contracts involving:
Bounty hunting
Mercenary deployment
Convoy defense
VIP security
Anti-piracy operations
Recovery and extraction missions
Frontier enforcement
High-risk transport
Their willingness to operate in unstable systems made them highly sought after by traders, corporations, independent settlements, and even criminal organizations.
The Crimson Suns maintained a carefully balanced reputation — never fully lawful, yet never openly hostile to the UEE. This positioned them as a chaotic neutral faction, operating according to profit, loyalty, and internal codes rather than politics.
Present Day
In the current era, the Crimson Suns remain one of the oldest surviving private military organizations with roots dating back to the first Martian colonies.
Though smaller than major military corporations, they possess generations of combat experience and a hardened reputation few factions can rival.
Modern Crimson Suns operators are commonly encountered as:
Elite bounty hunters
Mercenary strike teams
Security contractors
Tactical escorts
Shipboard defense specialists
Frontier troubleshooters
While bounty hunting and mercenary work now make up the majority of their operations, the Crimson Suns are ultimately driven by one principle:
Any contract worth honoring is worth completing.
To allies, they are dependable professionals.
To enemies, they are relentless hunters.
To the frontier, they are a reminder that civilization was built by those willing to survive the darkness beyond the stars.
“From Dust and Blood, We Rise.”
THE CRIMSON SUNS MANIFESTO
“From Dust and Blood, We Rise.”
We were born beneath the red skies of Mars.
Before the trade lanes were safe. Before the corporations built their towers. Before the United Empire claimed order among the stars, there were raiders, pirates, smugglers, and warlords feeding on the weak settlers clawing a life out of Martian soil.
The Crimson Suns were forged in that chaos.
What began as a hardened security force protecting the first colonies and industrial convoys became something greater — a brotherhood and sisterhood of survivors, mercenaries, hunters, and guardians. We stood between civilization and collapse while executives hid behind contracts and soldiers hid behind politics.
We protected the people.
We protected the resources that kept Mars alive.
And when necessary, we protected the men and women powerful enough to shape the future.
Generations have worn the Crimson Suns insignia. Many among our ranks are descendants of the original operators who fought in the dust storms of old Mars. Our bloodlines carry discipline, resilience, and the understanding that survival is never guaranteed.
We are not heroes.
We are not villains.
We are what the frontier requires.
The galaxy calls us chaotic.
The galaxy calls us ruthless.
The galaxy calls us neutral.
Good.
Neutrality is freedom.
The Crimson Suns do not kneel to empires, corporations, syndicates, or false ideals. We follow contracts, loyalty, and reputation. We believe in strength earned through action and trust earned through fire.
If a client pays fairly and honors the deal, we complete the mission.
If betrayal enters the equation, consequences follow swiftly.
Today, our operations span bounty hunting, escort detail, extraction missions, tactical security, mercenary deployment, recovery operations, convoy defense, intelligence gathering, and frontier warfare. We take the jobs others fear to touch. Lawful or unlawful means little to us compared to professionalism and results.
Pirates know our name.
Corporations remember our history.
Bounty targets fear our arrival.
We are not driven by politics.
We are driven by survival, profit, legacy, and the code carried by every Crimson Suns operator:
Loyalty to the contract.
Respect earned through strength.
Brotherhood above ego.
No operator left behind.
Reputation is currency.
Fear is a weapon.
Survival is victory.
The stars are not civilized.
They never were.
Every jump point hides danger.
Every system breeds conflict.
Every fortune is guarded by guns.
That is why we endure.
The Crimson Suns are more than a company.
We are a legacy born in the Martian dust and carried into the void.
Where chaos rises,
we rise higher.
Where others break,
we profit.
Where the weak pray for salvation,
they call for the Crimson Suns.
WE ARE THE CRIMSON SUNS.
THE RED DAWN OF THE FRONTIER.
