LPD-8 DUBUQUE CREW ROSTER.
The LPD-8 Dubuque or “Doobiq” is an Idris-P with a desire to be known for peacekeeping operations as opposed to being another idris dedicated to ruining the fun of others.
The purpose of this ship is to make those grand fun moments it was meant for. As well as partaking in those boring ones too. Whether we are performing a peacekeeping operation above a Daymar laser hole, or performing deep space industrial operations in the Aaron Halo, our intention is to be a ship one could take comfort in the arrival of, rather than feel the usual dread associated with the idris. The P stands for “peacekeeper” right? granted the PDCs dont always correctly pick friend from foe, we try to fly this ship for her true purpose in the ‘verse.
Notes:
The LPD-8 Dubuque flies no faction, fleet, or organization’s flag 24/7 presently. Members of the crew are not required to be a part of any other orgs, nor be exclusive to the crew. This is a roster meant for logistical ease.
The name of the ship is based off of the real life Dubuque, which was an amphibious transport dock which my father served on during his time in the navy, he is our head engineer presently.
The purpose of this organization is simply to have a coherent roster for the ship as her crew grows. We welcome anywhere from those who would want to spend the majority of their time participating as a static part of a big ship’s crew to those who would simply enjoy jumping in and running a turret when they feel like it.
The org ranks are mostly to help keep track of who prefers what, with the command ranks being more for fun and not about actual command… this is a video game we are here to have fun. Ranks like Gunner’s mate simply means there’s always a seat saved for you in combat. whereas a Boatswain’s job whatever is needed, for those who don’t really mind what they are doing on the ship but can do anything. none of this is meant to be restrictive or limiting, of course, it’s mostly all flavor.
Some ranks of note:
*Comms Officer: We have a desire to play around with radio features similar to DCS-SRS. Anywhere from coordination with fighters/other ships, all the way to playing around with the idea of ship comms separating two gunnery crews. This is all not just to maybe cut out some noise on those more serious “ops” but really it just sounds fun to play with for immersion’s sake. The job of the Comms officer is the theorized lynchpin of that whole concept and would have the ship’s aux cord.
