History
As the citizens of Earth began to expand into the surrounding systems, so too did the various cultures and languages of the planet, around which various organisations and communities grew.
The Galactic Language Exchange was established shortly thereafter to facilitate communication and understanding between these groups.
Manifesto
The Galactic Language Exchange is an apolitical social network organisation aimed at allowing members to learn new languages though mutual collaboration with other members.
We aim to create a community of members who can work together to improve their language ability. Members who are interested in learning each other’s languages can group together to undertake low risk missions, or simply just to chat in order to improve their language skills and learn about each other’s cultures.
Charter
- Members should declare the following:
- Languages you are able to speak fluently enough to instruct others.
- Languages you are interested in tying to learn, and how proficient you feel you are.
[You should probably try to develop at least a basic understanding of a language you want to learn before grouping with others. It seems a little unfair to expect people to teach you entirely from scratch! Having said that it’s up to participants to make it work. Ideally interactions will be as quid pro quo as possible. Try to give as much as you take!]
This information can be used to find other members who would like to learn your language are are willing to teach theirs. – [Hopefully there will be some in game matchmaking mechanic to facilitate this.]
