Grey Cross Project is a collective of Pilots who are dedicated to assisting others amongst The Verse. Operating independent of the UEE they stand to help the individual and make the system a better place. Operation in a “Grey” area they willingly work both within & outside the applied restrictions.

History

Arch_Macey and Mythical_Kiwi founded the “Grey Cross Project” after they saw the despair and ruins that the system had fallen into without the support of a fully fledged network.

Arch_Macey
From a background of business and trade he always enjoyed a life of luxury. While still young he found himself in a middle management position, yet his luck ran out when he found himself on a space station beset by pirates. Held for ransom alongside multiple of his peers, he begged the company to pay it off but they denied it without a second thought. For the first time in his life he was powerless. Managing to escape during a period of infighting between the pirates, he found himself alone drifting in the great darkness. After limping his way to a safe station he reported the incident and got himself the hardest drink he could find. Even at the bottom of the glass he found his mind drifting back to the helplessness he felt during his capture. With little money and much desperation he found himself taking on smuggling jobs for chump change. He once again found himself trapped and powerless while in prison, his mind a dark storm. Within that prison he made a vow to ensure nobody else felt powerless after realising that power was neither good nor evil; it simply depended on how it is used. Whether using armaments to neutralise pirates, transporting goods and medical supplies to those in need or rescuing those on their own, strength should always be used to help others. Arch_Macey founded the Grey Cross Project alongside Mythical_Kiwi whom he met whilst both responding to the same distress call. The fated meeting lead to a friendship which has blossomed into understanding and mateship which they hope to spread throughout The Verse.

Mythical_Kiwi
After coming to the Stanton system seeking to follow in the footsteps of the “pioneers” back on earth, looking to make a new life for himself he loaded up his humble ship and jumped to Stanton. After a relatively short time in the system all hopes of grandeur had faded from his dreams and he quickly found himself fighting to scrape together even the most basic amenities. Receiving no help from the corporations in charge he struggled to survive. After a chance encounter where he helped a businessman he was quickly praised for being so willing to drop everything and come to render aid and assistance. That businessman told another, then another, then another. His fame grew and so did his resources. He has since dedicated himself to the very thing that granted him his fortune. Upon meeting his future business partner Arch_Macey he knew he had struck gold and made a friend for life, despite his quirks. Together they founded the Grey Cross Project which runs to this day.

Manifesto

The Grey Cross Project is motivated to create a better future, paying forward the help they have received and spreading support across The Verse. The goal of the Grey Cross Project is to render aid and assistance to any all in need, they do not operate under the Command & Control of the UEE however they are not actively against them. They travel across the Stanton system in order to help the other pilots in need whenever they are able to do so. Some Examples of this assistance are as follows;
  • Saving lives and rendering aid to significant injury
  • Med-Evac from heavily fortified zones
  • Transport of stranded pilots
  • Transport of essential & Urgent goods
  • Fleet protection/Combat Escort
  • And Many More
Chances are that if you contact the Grey Cross Project there will be a pilot within the organization willing and able to support and help you in any situation. However, as implied by the name the Grey Cross Project operates within the grey area of legality from time to time. This allows them the help pilots in more sensitive situations such as;
  • Pickup from prison locations
  • Transport to outlaw colonies (Such as Grim Hex)
  • Assistance in clearing “Wrongful” CrimeStats

The limit to which the Grey Cross Project is willing to bend the law rest’s on the individual pilots shoulders, however the official standpoint of the Grey Cross Project is; “If in need, We help”

Charter

The rules and guidelines of the Grey Cross Project are as follows;
  1. Help all who are in need, you do not have to risk your life or ship however a reasonable amount of assistance must be considered. This is however up to the individual pilot although you may be asked to justify your choices/actions.
  2. Remain clear of CrimeStat whenever possible, although we do not strictly operate within the confines of the law, CrimeStat severely limits a pilots ability to offer assistance in large portions of The Verse.
  3. Your life comes first, while we offer help to any and all in need it is important that we do not risk our own lives in that pursuit. If we die, there’s no-one left.
  4. No Demanding payment, not all pilots who are in need can afford the premiums of large recue organizations. however if the job is not financially viable (I.e.; Large amount of ship damage and ammo usage are expected) then a pilot reserves the right to request at least minimum compensation. (Repairs and re-stocking)
  5. Compensation that is offered by the client may be accepted at the pilots discretions, However pilots are not to request or demand higher payment without due cause or reason, such as heavy damages to the pilots ship (you may be asked to justify and request for payment.
  6. Profits made from Jobs/Rescues are your own, however they are to be used for re-stocking and re-fueling and the betterment of The Verse.
  7. Members and Pilots of the Grey Cross Project are not entitled to replacement of Ships/Belongings that may be damaged or lost during the course of their duty. This includes but is not limited to demanding payment from Clients after significant losses.
  8. Members and Pilots of the Grey Cross Project are not responsible for any damages and/or losses that occur during the care/assistance provided to a client.
  9. Don’t be a dick, as a member of the Grey Cross Project you represent us all, if multiple complaints are levied against a pilot an investigation may be opened and your rank/suitability may be re-assessed.
