History

The Beginnings: Logistics Branch

Founded in 2955, Icarus Dynamics is a small group dedicated to coordinated and effective operations across a broad spectrum of efforts. After its start as a transport and logistics Company IDY rapidly became profitable through a combination of internal and contract operations including commodity trading, cargo transport, and VIP transportation. These original Captains and Crews became the foundation of IDY’s Logistics Branch dedicated to commercial, civilian, for-profit trade and transport operations.

Vertical Integration: Industrial Branch

The capital gained through Icarus Dynamics’ early trade and transport successes drove the board to ask: how can we do more? The answer came in the form of heavy industry. The Industrial Branch of IDY was created to drive costs down and profits up by expanding the Company into new industries while gathering raw materials and commodities through mining, salvage, and manufacturing. As the Company has grown, the Industrial Branch has become an increasingly steady backbone of supplying, repairing, and retrofitting the rest of the ships the Company operates.

Adapt or Die: Fleet and Contractors Branches

Late 2955 saw a large increase of trade and industrial interdictions in Stanton, Nyx, and Pyro. The supply of mercenary groups began to consistently fall below demand, and Icarus Dynamics’ ever-growing fleet required an equally increasing amount of protection from criminal elements. By the start of 2956 the Board of Directors had directed the integration of two additional Branches of the Company: Fleet and Contractors. The Fleet branch saw its start in the form of convoy escort and piracy deterrence, ensuring haulers delivered the right cargo at the right time and industry ships kept the economy flowing without interruption. Similarly, IDY Contractors became experts in anti-hijack operations and 360 degree security both in and out of atmosphere. As the security forces of the Company grew in number and expertise, another opportunity became clear: An effective escort fleet was an equally effective strike fleet. Experts at fighting in the tight quarters of ships can seize them just as well as defend them, and execute combat missions with a level of precision seldom seen outside of UEEN Special Forces units. Today, the Fleet and Contractors of Icarus Dynamics continue to provide security for Company assets, while also fulfilling external contracts for protection and mercenary services.

Who We Are

Icarus Dynamics (IDY) is a Company with its fingers in everything. We don’t confine ourselves to one way to do business whether it is collectively or individually. This Company was founded by a core group of close friends, and we extend that same respect and treatment of friends to all of our associates whether you are a founding member or the newest hire. Nobody in this Company will ever ask that you call them by a rank or title.

Our Values

IDY is fundamentally about four things: Respect, Freedom, Fun, and Profit.
  • Respect: We respect our staff, our clients, our rivals, and the time of all of the above.
  • Freedom: There are no hard requirements to be a part of IDY. We have no mandatory trainings, no mandatory events, no time commitment…the list goes on. This Company isn’t for the Company: it’s for You. It is a network of people who can choose to be as generalized or specialized as they choose, who have the option of asking or offering help between fellow associates on their own time.
  • Fun: At the end of the day, everyone should be having fun. The Board wants and expects feedback from the associates and clients, and everything is done with the goal of making the Company and Community more fun for everybody involved.
  • Profit: As a Corporate-Styled Org, we love a profitable venture. We look for opportunities to get people together to not only have a blast, but make everybody richer while doing it.

Why We Exist

The ‘verse is a large, harsh place with some simple realities: Many things are difficult or impossible to do alone or with too few people. The barrier for entry to many of the coolest experiences is either time consuming or expensive. Many Orgs are too rigid, too demanding, or too overwhelming. IDY looks to alleviate or solve all of these problems. We want to build a community of people with a steady, but manageable growth rate where all the org members are still friends instead of strangers who share the IDY tag. We everyone to be a community that wants to play together. We want that community to be low pressure: people have other time commitments or quite frankly just feel like taking a break. We want to give people the chance to have experiences like commanding a Capital Ship without breaking the bank. And finally, we want to treat people like people and a game like a game.

What You Can Expect From Us
  • Respect from all of our Associates, from the Board of Directors all the way down. Absolutely no abuse is tolerated, from anyone to anyone.
  • Autonomy. No time commitments. No dues. No demands to hand control of your ship to someone who “outranks” you. You are your own person.
  • Community. The other side of autonomy. If you ask for help, we will provide it to the best of our ability.
  • Opportunity. You will be paid fairly for any participation in org events and crews. No more 5k aUEC/hr turret jobs. We will teach or learn with you in any career paths you choose.
  • Transparency. This Community is supposed to be an ever-growing network of friends. We will treat you like it, and actively want feedback throughout the enterprise.

What We Want From You
  • Respect goes both ways. Nobody here will pull rank, but that doesn’t mean that you don’t owe the same respect that is given.
  • Community. None of our org events are mandatory and there are no kicks for inactivity. With that said, we encourage you to offer help to others as often as you receive it, when able.
  • Read the room! We goof off sometimes, we cut the chatter sometimes. Depending on the day or even the channel you’re in this can change, please try to match the energy of the people you’re speaking/playing with at that moment.
  • Give feedback! If something can be better, we want to know it. This is not an org for leadership, it is an org for all of us.
