FORGED IN SPACE | BOUND BY DUTY
Forged in the lawless shadows of the United Empire of Earth’s (UEE) chaotic expansion, the Iron Templars arose in 2248 as a legendary PMC and space guild, long before the Messer Era or first contact with the alien empires. When early terraforming failures and corporate corruption left vulnerable frontier colonies completely exposed to deep-space marauders, a coalition of battle-hardened mercenaries, outlaw hunters, and rogue combat pilots gathered on the mineral-rich, obsidian moon of Ferrum Prime. Swearing a blood oath to become a shield for the defenseless, they pledged to strip away planetary nationalisms and corporate contracts, a vow symbolized by the ritual plunging of their combat knives and ship armor-plates into pools of molten slag. Over the centuries, this private armada evolved into a highly specialized, fiercely independent guild of elite fighters operating outside UEE jurisdiction in the dangerous fringes of the “Verse.” The guild’s greatest historical test came generations later along the bleeding edge of the frontier, where they served as a vital vanguard fighting off the aggressive, nomadic Vanduul clans. When the horrific 2681 raid on Armitage plunged humanity into an unceasing war of attrition, the Iron Templars deployed their specialized fleet to protect outer systems long before UEE battlegroups could mobilize. In a series of desperate defensive engagements, their massive, heavily up-armored Capital fortress-ships held the line against overwhelming Vanduul Scythe swarms and devastating Kingships, sacrificing half of their veteran vanguard in brutal, close-quarters ship boarding actions to stall the alien advance and give colonial civilians time to evacuate. This grinding conflict solidified the guild’s reputation across the UEE as the premier independent defense force against existential annihilation. Internal friction tested the organization during the Technic Schism, an ideological crisis that mirror-matched the broader societal anxieties of the Verse: a division between “Purists” who trusted only raw piloting reflexes and kinetic systems, and the “Apostles of the Forge” who advocated for extreme cybernetic targeting integration and reverse-engineered alien component overclocking. A catastrophic internal split was narrowly avoided when the Grand Master compartmentalized the guild into specialized, symbiotic sub-orders. Today, the Iron Templars operate seamlessly across three distinct branches: the Anvil, who act as heavy shock troopers flying heavily armored gunships tailored for breaching pirate strongholds and disabled Vanduul wrecks; the Spark, who serve as data-runners and scouts utilizing deep-space scanning arrays to track rogue outlaw packs and encroaching alien scouting parties; and the Forge, master mechanics and industrial engineers who refit and overclock salvaged components to maintain the guild’s formidable, custom-tuned fleet. Living by their solemn creed, the Iron Templars continue to patrol the dark star systems of the frontier, an autonomous beacon of salvation for civilian haulers, miners, and colonists left to fend for themselves in a dangerous universe.
THE IRON TEMPLARS MANIFESTO
Classification: Operational Doctrine & Sacred Creed
Established: 2248, Ferrum Prime
Motto: “Non Timebo Mala” (I Shall Fear No Evil)
I. The Sovereign Oath
We answer to no UEE Senator, no corporate boardroom, and no planetary governor. Empires rise, rot, and fall to tyranny, but the innocent remain. Our contract is not signed in UEE Credits, but written in the blood of those we protect. We are the shield for the frontier systems left to burn in the dark.
II. The Vanduul Directive
Against the mindless fury of the Vanduul, there is no negotiation, no retreat, and no mercy. We are the anvil upon which the alien tide breaks. Where the UEE Navy hesitates, bound by bureaucracy and distance, the Templars strike. Every hull we breach, every civilian hull we cover, and every jump point we hold is a promise that humanity will not be snuffed out.
III. Pillars of the Fleet
Honor the Frame: Our ships are our armor, and our components are our lifeblood. Whether flying a heavily modified Hammerhead or a custom-overclocked Hornet, a Templar’s vessel is a temple of kinetic fury.
The Law of the Forge: We adapt, we salvage, we survive. We do not fear forbidden tech, nor do we worship the machine. We bend the metal to our will to keep the dark at bay.
No Soul Abandoned: We do not leave a brother or sister to the vacuum, nor do we abandon a civilian distress beacon. If the signal cries out in the black, the Templars answer.
IV. The Closing Vow
When the quantum drives fail, when the shields drop, and when the void closes in, we do not falter. Our hearts are forged in the fires of Ferrum Prime. We are the Iron Templars. Stand with us, and face the stars unafraid.
OPERATIONAL POLIOrg Code: [TEMPLAR]
Primary Focus: Defense / Security / Combat
Secondary Focus: Engineering / Salvage
Commitment: Regular / Hardcore
Operational Motto: Non Timebo Mala
ARTICLE I: PURPOSE & SOVEREIGNTY
The Iron Templars operate as an autonomous, non-governmental space guild and Private Military Corporation (PMC). Founded on Ferrum Prime in 2248, our primary directive is the defense of civilian life, the eradication of the Vanduul threat, and the containment of deep-space lawlessness.
Sovereignty: The Guild answers to no UEE political entity or corporate syndicate. Our loyalty belongs exclusively to the Charter and our brothers and sisters in arms.
Jurisdiction: While we respect local lawful space when operating in high-security systems, our primary theater is the frontier, where UEE law fails and Templar Law takes precedence.
ARTICLE II: THE RECRUITMENT OATH
All initiates seeking entry into the Guild must swear the Vow of Iron. By binding your ship and crew to the Templars, you agree to:
Prioritize the Distress Beacon: A Templar never ignores a valid civilian or guild distress signal, regardless of the perceived danger or lack of financial profit.
Accept No Vanduul Quarter: No alliance, trade contract, or truce will ever be made with the Vanduul. They are an existential threat to be purged from the Verse.
ARTICLE III: COMMAND STRUCTURE & ROLES
The Guild operates via a strict meritocratic hierarchy divided into three operational branches. Members are assigned based on their preferred gameplay loop:
1. The High Council
Led by the Grand Master, the Council dictates strategic movement, alliance treaties, and handles internal disciplinary disputes.
2. The Operational Branches
The Anvil (Combat Fleet): The mailed fist of the guild. Responsible for fighter escort, capital ship operations, anti-piracy, and direct engagement with Vanduul raiding parties.
The Spark (Recon & Logistics): The eyes and ears. Responsible for deep-space exploration, scanning jump points, data-running, and operating refueling/rearming chains for the frontline fleet.
The Forge (Industrial & Salvage): The backbone. Responsible for mining raw quantum materials, medical extraction, and salvaging enemy wrecks to repair and overclock the guild’s fleet armor and components.
ARTICLE IV: ASSET DISTRIBUTION & SPOILS
To maintain a self-sustaining war machine, the Guild adheres to a strict salvage and profit-share protocol:
Guild Operations: During official Org events, 20% of all loop profits (cargo sales, bounty payouts, salvage claims) is sent to the Guild Treasury to fund Capital Ship rearming, fuel, and component insurance. The remaining 80% is split equally among the participating crew.
Independent Operations: Members operating independently retain 100% of their earnings, provided their actions do not violate Article II.
ARTICLE V: DISCIPLINARY CODE
Failure to uphold the values of Non Timebo Mala will result in formal review by the High Council.
Major Infractions: Espionage, piracy against allies, treason
