Welcome to the Longdog Legion, where loyalty and legacy go hand in paw. Inspired by our steadfast namesake, Teddy the Dachshund, we blend discipline with the spirit of Roman legions. Our hound-emblazoned banner stands for unity, strength, and honor. Join us in forging our path in the stars.

History

The Longdog Legion traces its roots back to 2019, when its founder, known as Lance425, began streaming on Twitch regularly. What started as a personal hobby quickly grew into a thriving community of like-minded gamers who gathered around Lance’s streams. Initially, the group found common ground in MechWarrior Online, where their tactical prowess and teamwork set them apart. They also explored other games like War Thunder, and the first seeds of interest in Star Citizen began to take root, albeit to a lesser extent.

As Lance’s streams gained popularity, so did the sense of fellowship among his viewers. The Longdog Legion was born out of this camaraderie, named in honor of Lance’s loyal Dachshund, Teddy. The group adopted a Roman legion-inspired structure, reflecting their disciplined and strategic approach to gaming, a theme that resonated with the community’s values of loyalty, teamwork, and respect.

Fast forward to 2024, and the landscape of the Longdog Legion has evolved. With years of gaming and community-building experience under his belt, Lance is now ready to make Star Citizen a major part of his content creation. Recognizing the vast potential of the Star Citizen universe, he’s set his sights on expanding the Longdog Legion within the game, inviting new members to join their ranks.

Today, the Longdog Legion stands as a proud, disciplined organization within the Star Citizen universe, poised to carve out a legacy among the stars. Guided by the spirit of their namesake, Teddy, and the leadership of Lance425, the Legion continues to uphold the values that have defined them from the beginning—loyalty, unity, and honor—as they prepare to embark on new adventures in the galaxy.

Charter

Charter of the Longdog Legion

Preface: Why We Exist

The Longdog Legion is a band of like-minded players united by a shared passion for camaraderie, tactical excellence, and a strong sense of honor. Inspired by the steadfast spirit of our namesake, Teddy the Dachshund, we blend disciplined gameplay with a nod to the ancient Roman legions. Our mission is to conquer the stars together, creating a legacy that endures in the vast universe of Star Citizen.

We value loyalty, respect, and the ability to balance fun with seriousness when needed. The Longdog Legion is open to all who share our ideals, regardless of race, gender, nationality, or background. However, we emphasize qualities like teamwork, roleplaying enthusiasm, and active participation when considering new recruits.

1.0 The Leadership

The leadership structure of the Longdog Legion reflects our commitment to order, discipline, and strategic gameplay. It ensures that every member knows their role and how they contribute to the greater goals of the Legion.

1.1 Legion Leaders and Officers

Imperator: The Imperator is the supreme leader of the Longdog Legion, responsible for guiding the overall direction of the organization and making high-level decisions.

Praetor: Serving as the second-in-command, the Praetor assists the Imperator and ensures the smooth operation of the Legion across all activities.

Legatus: Senior officers in charge of specific divisions, such as combat, logistics, and intelligence. They report directly to the Praetor and manage the day-to-day operations of their divisions.

Tribunus: Field commanders responsible for leading missions and coordinating efforts during operations. They ensure that the Legion’s strategies are effectively executed.

Centurion: Leaders of smaller squads, the Centurions manage tactical operations and ensure that their teams are battle-ready.

Optio: Deputy leaders who support the Centurions and step up when needed, maintaining discipline and morale within the squads.

Signifer: Bearers of the Legion’s standard, the Signiferi also handle logistics and communication, ensuring that the Legion remains coordinated and supplied.

1.2 Officer Responsibilities

Officers in the Longdog Legion lead by example, embodying the values of loyalty, strength, and unity. They are responsible for mentoring new members, passing on their knowledge, and ensuring that all members adhere to the Legion’s rules and values.

In any public forum, including in-game channels, social media, and our communication platforms, officers are expected to act with respect, courtesy, and integrity. They must also ensure that the Legion’s Charter and rules of conduct are followed, taking corrective action when necessary, including suspension or removal of members who violate these principles.

Officers are also tasked with maintaining an inclusive and respectful environment, ensuring that all members feel welcome and valued. While our interactions can be candid and straightforward, all members are expected to engage with maturity and respect for others.

2.0 Rules of Conduct

2.1 General Behavior

Members of the Longdog Legion are expected to uphold the highest standards of conduct, both in and out of game. This includes following the rules set by the game publishers and conducting oneself in a manner that reflects positively on the Legion.

While we encourage strategic gameplay, including cunning tactics and roleplaying, all actions must remain within the bounds of the game’s rules and never be directed against fellow Legion members or our allies.

Respect for others is paramount. Extreme swearing, lewd discussions, and personal attacks are prohibited in our communication channels. Disagreements should be handled privately and respectfully. Members are expected to follow the directions of officers during Legion activities, and any disputes with officers should be escalated to the Imperator for resolution.

2.2 Discipline

Any member who violates the Legion’s Charter or rules of conduct may be subject to disciplinary action, including suspension or removal from the organization. Officers are held to an even higher standard and will face stricter consequences for any misconduct.

Members who do not align with the Legion’s values or who disrupt the harmony of the group may also be removed, even without a specific rule infraction. The goal is to maintain a positive and cooperative environment for all members.

3.0 Membership

The Longdog Legion seeks to recruit players who exemplify our values of loyalty, honor, and teamwork. We have a hierarchical membership structure that rewards dedication and active participation.

Membership Requirements:

Joining the Longdog Legion means becoming part of a close-knit community where camaraderie and respect are paramount. To ensure that our ranks remain strong and united, we ask that all potential members meet the following criteria:

Age 18+: We require our members to be at least 18 years old to maintain a mature and respectful environment.

Balanced Attitude: While we’re all about having fun and enjoying the game, we also value the ability to shift gears and take things seriously when the situation demands it. Whether we’re planning a strategic operation or engaging in a critical mission, being able to adapt is key.

Interest in Roleplaying: The Longdog Legion embraces the rich lore of Star Citizen and incorporates a light Roman legion theme into our activities. We’re looking for members who are interested in roleplaying and adding depth to our in-game experiences.

Membership Roles:

Imperator: The ultimate leader, guiding the Legion’s overall strategy.

Praetor: Second-in-command, assisting the Imperator and managing day-to-day operations.

Legatus: Senior officers overseeing specific divisions within the Legion.

Tribunus: Field commanders leading missions and operations.
