2927 – Marine Outpost 79324 in the Sargossa Belt became under attack by a Vanduul war party. The Suez battle group was sent to intervene and what followed would be known as the battle for Sargossa. For sixteen days the Marines of the outpost and the Navy ships did battle around the station, and for a time it seemed as if the UEE Forces might win.

This forlorn hope however proved to be in vain when the Vanduul concentrated their attack in a single suicidal action and managed to cause the destruction of the Valiance, the flagship of the Suez battle group. The fighting raged and now, without the overwatch, the Marines and the remaining Navy vessels had to make a decision: die holding their ground, or retreat and regroup. The only remaining vessel, The Libertine, gathered the few remaining Marines and any survivors they could gather, and called the general retreat from the warzone.

This random collection of soldiers, pilots, engineers and officers weathered great strife as they fled, harrowed by the remaining forces of the Vanduul. They fought round the clock, sortie after sortie flown to defend their fleeing ship until it reached its jump point.

Once it had reached its fall back position, the battered crew and officers pleaded with its rendezvous group to retake the fallen outpost. But orders had come down from the command channel to abandon the outpost. From there the story splits into many different pieces, as many went different ways, and lived their lives as each man or woman must. Many kept in touch, many remained friends, many remained brothers in arms.

2933 – The UEE grants the incorporation of a new company to a group of veterans and business men. Libertine Enterprises is legally incorporated under UEE law. They post record gains for their first 6 quarters, and are considered by many to be one of the most efficient investments in the verse.

2937 – Libertine Enterprises loses major holdings in a contested region bordered with Vanduul space. It posts losses for the first time in years and with the instability of the market many investors withdraw their support. In danger of filing for chapter 11, Libertine restructures itself into a leaner, smaller corporate model focused on safer and more reliable ventures.

2943 – Today Libertine Enterprises is one of the leading names in stability, diversity, and solutions.
