The Mobile Shinsengumi was formed in 2801 in secret by the only few samurai in the verse. Named for the legendary band of ronin that formed the Shinsengumi in ancient Japan, the Mobile Shinsengumi are the last true samurai preserving bushido. Our slogan, “Moeyo Ken”, translates to “Burn, O’ Sword”.

History

In 2798, Daisuke Kondo, the last living descendant of Isami Kondo, the founder of Japan’s famed Shinsengumi, was commanding an elite battalion of pilots in to a confrontation more formidable than any member could have possibly known. This quiet and secretive plan known as “Operation Falling Sky”. – A term still recognized today, though the history of the events has been officially removed from textbooks and printed history.

Receiving orders that a band of pirates had taken control of the (redacted), Kondo was tasked with not only taking the (redacted) back but to survey and eliminate any possible threats on the other side of (redacted) this system, which was (redacted) would be the target of systematic genocide at the hands of (redacted) and any associated corporations.
Kondo and his elite team did as ordered, and what was a series of hard fought battles eventually would result in a dishonor so great it would change the face of secret warfare.
The “pirates” whom had taken the (redacted) would eventually be beat back and destroyed in their entirety by the efforts of this group. Upon mission completion, and in holding true to the ideal of “death before dishonor”, over the course of (redacted) the once elite team, while successful, would be reduced to just 3 remaining pilots. Following (redacted) what remained would be a bloodbath. Countless battles had cost them all their ships, men, and most of their supplies. It is said that their commander, Kondo, was forced to use his family’s ancient katana to subdue the last of the remaining targets. Or so they thought.
With their ships destroyed, and pilots depleted of rations, supplies, munitions, their last series of transmissions would fall on deaf ears.

Ghe UEE’s intelligence had seen to this. The “pirates” that had taken (redacted) would later be revealed to the 3 survivors as a yet-discovered alien species; a species that was human like in their armor and tech, leading the soldiers to believe they were fighting the enemies they were briefed on.

In reality, this was a suicide mission. According to (redacted), “We never expected anyone to survive this sortie. And when we sent cleaners, what they found – well… we believe to be of great importance.” What (redacted) was referring to, we can only speculate, as the Intelligence agency’s cleaners were never heard from again. However, one of the serial numbers of their (redacted) would later show up on the black market, though the whereabouts of Kondo or the last 3 are officially unknown.

What is known, however, is that there is a powerful very secret alliance between (redacted) of the UEE and a little known dojo hidden in the remote system of (redacted).
Few know the depths of the bonds between these entities, but what is now understood is that in reaction to Operation Falling Sky, and the conspiracy behind it, an idea was formed.

According to records, there were no survivors. It is said that 3 pilots, under the order of a great master of Bushido, (the way of the warrior) would descend in to the expanse of space to find and bring together the greatest and most skilled minds the verse could offer, under the ideology of “the way of the samurai”. – This almost forgotten philosophy would form the basis for the modern group, which would soon emerge in 2801. This group was known as “The Mobile Shinsengumi”.

At first there were whispers of a group of so-called “Samurai” or “Ronin” somewhere within the known systems. While their exploits were often misinterpreted, or labeled as mercenaries, etc. What was really taking place was a group of soldiers, under the direction of “the last samurai” and a great master of zen/bushido were acting outside the bounds of UEE or governing bodies. Or so it seemed.

In reality, these wise warriors forged a group to carry the practices and follow bushido in their actions. Though little is known about this group, and any spies or plants to their ranks have vanished from the pages of history, it is understood that they do not agree completely with the UEE or certain corporations, but rather seek peace and to maintain the ideals of their namesake by all means, maintaining honor in the process. While some politicians and military personnel would refer to the group as “a ghost story” or “pirates with a different label”, what is known is that there have been several operations for and against the UEE along with many other organizations and even rebel and pirate groups with great success and all attribution going to “The Mobile Shinsengumi”.

Their existence would be debated until 2805, when the chancellor for the ministry of intelligence at the time, (redacted), would be asked to the fields of Terra by direct contact for the purposes of a duel. This event is said to have has several witnesses, yet no official record, beyond that of the known death of (redacted) on the exact date. Following this, a banner flag bearing the Shinsengumi name was set up under cover of stealth atop the ministry’s headquarters.

Today they are more well known, and still very secretive. The Mobile Shinsengumi has been given many names, for example “the wolves of Mibu”, and continue to operate within an unknown network of like-minded individuals. These are the best of the best, a ghost story for people in power to fear at night.

These are the last true Samurai. The Mobile Shinsengumi.
Who proudly reference their founder, Daisuke Kondo’s decent from UEE control and use of a legendary Katana, (said to still be I. The possession of the “Demon Commander”) in their tag lines and occasional sited writing of “Moeyo Ken”, which translates from Japanese as “Burn, O’ Sword

Manifesto

Our mantra is “Moeyo Ken”
Translated, this means:
“Burn, O’ Sword”

The Mobile Shinsengumi is a samurai clan first. Following tradition, much of what we do is mysterious and secretive. Made up of soldiers, pirates, masters of industry, tacticians, ninja, and citizen, we share the same passion for bushido and the way of the samurai. Known, celebrated and feared the universe over, we are known amongst the stars as the universe’s most skilled warriors, especially with blades and katana. No matter where we are, a member of the Shinsengumi is a welcome and feared sight in any battle, squad, mission, industry, or ship. The Mobile Shinsengumi have
many names, “Wolves of Mibu”, “demon kings of the 6th heaven”, etc.

In essence, we are the universe’s only true Samurai.

Dedicated to maintaining to protecting the Samurai spirit in this modern age, our exploits range from up front battles to a working network of shadows. From Stanton to the deepest reaches of space we will explore, destroy, fight, fly, steal, honor, live and die by our own set of rules.

We will establish and protect our home, New Edo, and in honor of our samurai ancestors live and work in the same systems used by ancient Japan.

No enemy is too strong, no challenge to hard! You don’t have to know the way of the Samurai, or Bushido to apply. We are masters of the egara (style) and information, if you love Japanese culture and the samurai system you will fit right in! Our Master is a mangaka (manga artist) and great source of information to everything involved. If you’re a fan of anime, history, katana, martial arts, shinobi or more you will be welcomed.

We are the universe’s last samurai.
