History
Mal’s Raiders or MRAID, started as one guy with a full-time job, wife, and responsibilities looking for other regular people to play Star Citizen. Mal recruited people he met in the verse, people he met on reddit, and even those he fought against! Slowly, the small group started to take shape, united in their mutual love of Star Citizen and the developing bonds of camaraderie. Eventually, the small group of players created a discord server, and the rest is history.
Over the years, MRAID has grown from a group of five people into a self-sustaining and organized community of more than a hundred members. What never changed, however, was the small-group feel, the emphasis on fun, and always prioritizing real life.
Manifesto
We are a laid back, medium-sized, and mature gaming community with a focus on Star Citizen. We are largely US based, and active primarily in US Time zones. Our members engage in both casual and organized gameplay, and we have scheduled “OP” nights once a week, with attendance being optional. The vast majority of our membership have real lives, jobs, families, and often limited time to game. We don’t tolerate drama, and we have worked hard over the years to maintain the quality of our active community. If you like Star Citizen, and you’re looking for a good group of guys to play with (but you’re not looking for a second job) you might be a good fit! Being part of our organization is a great way to experience group and multi-crew gameplay in Star Citizen, and to experience game content that is sometimes difficult to access as a solo player. It’s also a great place to find people to play with, and try new gameplay loops.
What we bring to the table:
-An established community of gamers who have lots of experience in Star Citizen.
-Guidance and training for new members.
-Active Discord server for communications and game discussion.
-Regularly scheduled (optional) community events and structured gameplay.
-Laid back and drama-free environment of mature adult gamers.
-Established organizational structure with room for advancement within the community.
What we are looking for in recruits:
-Adults only, 18+
-Active in US timezones, or able to be.
-Must have Discord and join the Org server
-Must have voice chat via Discord for OPs
-Be easy to get along with, able to work in a group, and passionate about Star Citizen!
Charter
MRAID Rules:
-Please be respectful of other members and admins. Harassment of members or admins will not be tolerated. No excessive profanity, racial slurs, personal attacks, politics, nudity, pornography or advocating illegal activity. No trauma dumping, sympathy/attention-seeking posts, TMI posts, etc.
-No solicitation or encouragement of game exploits. General discussion of the grey market is permitted, but links to grey market websites or listings may not be posted and no grey market sales are allowed on the server. Members who choose to engage in game exploits or purchase ships/items/currency on the grey market do so entirely at their own risk.
-No begging for money, assets, or items on the server. No IRL buying, selling, or trading on the server. No promotion of content/products without permission from an Admin.
-A working microphone is required and members are expected to use voice comms during OPs. Please be mindful of your mic settings when hanging out in a voice room (feedback, echo, ambient noise, etc.) You may be asked to adjust your microphone settings or switch to push-to-talk if needed.
Violations of server rules will result in an initial warning, then a timeout, then a temp ban. Continuing past that point may result in a permanent ban from the server. Serious breaches of the server rules may result directly in a ban at the discretion of Admin.
