EARTH Circa 1950

The Nike Hercules (initially designated SAM-A-25, and later MIM-14) was a surface-to-air missile (SAM) used by U.S. and NATO armed forces for medium- and high-altitude long-range air defense. It was normally armed with the W31 nuclear warhead.

Hercules was developed as the successor to the earlier MIM-3 Nike Ajax, to carry a nuclear warhead in order to defeat entire formations of high-altitude supersonic targets. It evolved into a much larger missile with two solid fuel stages that provided three times the range of the Ajax. Deployment began in 1958, initially at new bases, but it eventually took over many Ajax bases as well. At its peak it was deployed at over 130 bases in the US alone.

As time and technology developed the NIKE-HERCULES project was eventually declassified and decommissioned.

EARTH 1969

Earth takes its first steps into space travel by refining the developments of Wernher von Braun’s Rocket propulsion technology and the advanced processing powers of early computational systems.

EARTH 2075

The first self-sustaining quantum drive engine was completed by Dr. Scott Childress along with a team from RSI. It was capable of space travel at 1% of the speed of light. Overnight, the space travel industry was born and spaceflight for civilians became possible.

NIKE-HERCULES is reborn in the private sector under the leadership of a group of multinational special operations leaders from various NATO Countries. The goal is to build and develop a cutting edge military organization bringing together the experiences, training and skills from a multitude of elite operators.

EARTH 2214

RSI released its Poseidon fusion engine, pushing the new speed limit of space travel to 10% of the speed of light, or 18,600 miles per second.

EARTH 2380-2546

The Formation and Birth of the UEE.
Once humanity began to expand into the stars, the governments of Earth slowly began to realize that, politically, the individual governments of the various countries wouldn’t be able to maintain themselves in the bright future ahead. It wasn’t until the year 2380 that the governments of Earth decided to put aside their social and political differences and unify as a single governing entity named the United Nations of Earth (UNE). Over the next century, more and more people began to move off-world and start over on freshly terraformed worlds. By the 26th century, almost 70% of the human population lived on other planets in other systems. Those living off-world felt like they were not being equally represented in the government and began to petition the UNE for reform. Finally, in 2523, the UNE responded by transforming itself into the United Planets of Earth.
