The Rat Pack’s history is as cobbled together and opportunistic as the organization itself, a tapestry woven from daring heists, narrow escapes, and the shared camaraderie of outcasts. Rumors whisper that the seeds of the Rat Pack were sown in the dark corners of GrimHEX, around the time the UEE’s grip on the Stanton system began to loosen. A handful of independent haulers, tired of paying exorbitant tariffs and dealing with corrupt officials, started sharing information – safe routes, vulnerable cargo ships, and corrupt security patrols. They weren’t necessarily pirates at first, just trying to survive, but the line between “independent trader” and “opportunistic scavenger” blurred quickly in the lawless fringes.

One story, possibly apocryphal, tells of a daring raid on a Ryker & Lathan transport carrying a shipment of rare quantum fuel. A small group of these independent traders, coordinating their efforts for the first time, managed to hijack the transport and split the valuable cargo. The success of this operation, and the shared thrill of the risk, forged a bond between them. They started calling themselves “The Rats,” a nod to their scavenging nature and their ability to slip through the cracks. The “Pack” was added later, emphasizing their newfound unity.

  • Assist those in need: When a fellow Rat Pack member requires assistance, offer your support to the best of your ability. Aiding those in need strengthens the bonds of camaraderie and ensures the survival of the Pack.
  • Respect the autonomy of others: Do not interfere with the pursuits of other Rat Pack members unless explicitly asked for assistance. Each Rat has the right to chart their own course.

Enforcement:

If a member’s actions consistently violate the principles of this charter or jeopardize the Pack’s well-being, their fellow Rats may choose to distance themselves or, in extreme cases, expel them from the organization.
