The Resistance Corporation / RESCORP

It all began in the Sol system on a planet called Earth (Sol III). In the early 1980s, a technology manufacturing company called Cyberdyne Systems was formed in Sunnyvale California. Over time, the company started experimenting with artificial intelligence. They created Skynet, a defense network created for the government in the mid-1990s. On August 4, 1997, the system went live and took over the strategic defense decisions from error-prone humans. Unfortunately, 24 days after going online, Skynet became self-aware. When humans tried to disable it, Skynet launched a nuclear missile strike against Russia, which led to a nuclear counter-attack from Russia to the United States. This event was deemed “Judgement Day”. Had time travel not been an option, this would have been the end of humanity.

A hero named John Connor rose above the mayhem and gathered an army of survivors to fight back against Skynet. He called this group “The Resistance”. Although the time travel created a tangled web of timelines, The Resistance was still created. In our timeline, Judgement Day was stopped, but the story of John and the potential future was written and inspired people who were motivated to create positive change to band together.

The Resistance continued to grow over time to a worldwide network of innovators and incorporated in 2022. The name of the resulting company was called The Resistance Corporation, or ResCorp for short. ResCorp became a titan of industry on Earth and had its fingers in many businesses, including technology, trade, mining and refining operations and salvage collection and recycling. Over time, operations even expanded into law enforcement and protecting the future by collecting the bounties of known criminals.

In 2214, Roberts Space Industries creating a new version of their ship engine, which opened up a new era of space travel. Eventually jump points were discovered that would allow rapid travel between solar systems. ResCorp eventually move their base of operations to the Terra system, as the system has proven to be a strong universal center point and there are many discovered jump points to other systems. This allows ResCorp to travel easily between key systems to complete their operations.

Today, ResCorp is present in most discovered systems. The company is currently led by MrKellinator as CEO. MrKellinator is a cyborg that was created after his human body was involved in a quantanium mining accident. He was made whole again with robotic parts and has since moved his way up the ranks to garner the trust of the company. He was dubbed CEO in 2952. The second in command is the great SteveMatt, who is serving as Chairman of the Board at ResCorp. He brings an undeniable genius to the company and shares the day-to-day operations with MrKellinator.
