Section 1

a – Mission Statement

Refraction Solutions is a private security service and trading organisation. We offer integrated trading and security, allowing fast and safe delivery of goods thanks to our large-capacity ships and well-armed fighter escorts. Whether we’re shipping water to an outer-colony or electronic components to a shipyard, your cargo is always our number one priority, therefore all our pilots and crewmen are trained extensively with firearms and in numerous spacecraft. Refraction Solutions prides itself on its core values which favour you, the customer, and ensures a safe and healthy workplace for all employees, regardless of their origin.

Section 2 – Corporate Structure

a – Chief Officers

The corporate management staff, more commonly referred to as the “C-Suite” are the staff who create and manage all policy, recruitment, marketing, public relations, human resources, diplomacy, and any other corporate affairs. The CEO is the figurehead of the firm and the C-Suite and all the other executives answer directly to them. Each executive is responsible for a specific department which may include a variety of tasks.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is the most senior of the corporate staff. Like most traditional companies in UEE space, the CEO answers to a board of directors, however, the CEO still holds the most power in the company and can, in some circumstances, overrule the board’s decisions. The CEO is involved in every aspect of the company, including daily operations, finance, marketing, human resources and so on.

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is the treasurer of the company. Their primary responsibilities are to ensure that there are no discrepancies with company finances, that all staff are paid their salary or their contractual fees should that apply, and that the company is supplied with the necessary ships, gear, and amenities to operate properly. Should a department require funding for new equipment, the CFO is responsible for ensuring that the requested items are delivered quickly to prevent disruptions to company operations.

The Chief Communications Officer (CCO) is the head of communications for the company. Their primary responsibilities are to work with the CEO and the recruiters to ensure that the company has an effective recruitment policy and campaign. Ideally, the CCO will have recruiters spotting talent in space and working with station or planetary officials to advertise available job positions. Internally, the CCO is responsible for ensuring that all departments can communicate efficiently by using the company’s own Spectrum messaging system.

The Chief Marketing Officer (CPO) is the head of marketing and advertising. Typical duties include brand management, marketing communications which includes using advertising campaigns and public relations campaigns, pricing, customer service, and market research. The CPO should be analytical and should work with the company’s traders to better understand the supply and demand of all the systems in which the company operates, as well as researching which vehicles are best used to transport high volumes of cargo.

b – Employee Roles

Refraction Solutions requires that its employees choose a role – or even multiple if need be – to help with the day-to-day operation. The company allows employees the freedom of choice when picking a role, each of which has numerous duties attached to it that must be fulfilled. For more detailed information regarding the roles, please contact a recruiter or check job openings.

  • Trader – Responsible for picking, delivering, and selling goods.
  • Escort – Responsible for protecting company assets and patrolling trade routes.
  • Recruiter – Responsible for advertising the organisation sensibly and according to UEE rules.
  • Contractor – Responsible for creating, accepting, and negotiating contracts.

c – Affiliation & Freelancers

Refraction Solutions will sometimes use external contractors to fulfil certain jobs. If this is the case, then the company will prioritise affiliated citizens. Affiliated citizens are:

  • Former employees
  • Employees of partner companies
  • Freelancers with a good relationship with Refraction Solutions
  • Families of current employees

If the company cannot use an affiliated citizen, then a contract will be put onto the market for any Freelancer or company to claim (these contracts are known as ‘external contracts’). Payment of external contracts is not typically up for negotiation unless a situation arises which makes the job high risk, however, the contracted citizen will never be given less money than is advertised unless there is missing or damaged cargo.

Section 3 – Company Operations

Section 4 – Code of Conduct

Section 5 – Amendments

Should any information in official documentation need to be changed, then the executive staff must have a unanimous agreement on the change. All agreed changes are then to be implemented 24 hours after the discussion has taken place. Furthermore, the changes must be logged by executive or senior staff on Spectrum for all employees to see.
