History
The Shadow of the Second Sun began as a Private Military Company.
A small group of operators left another organization, dissatisfied with its direction and the growing weight of financial decisions. They pooled what they had, chose a name that reflected their preference for working out of the light, and set out to stay independent. For a time the PMC functioned as intended. Contracts came in. People joined. The name began to carry weight in the darker corners of the verse.
Then the original members left.
One after another they were simply gone. No formal resignations. No lasting explanations. Contact faded. Messages stopped receiving answers. What remained was a single founder and an empty organization.
In the long quiet that followed, that remaining founder changed. Extended time alone in the fringes — systems the UEE barely claims — altered the meaning of the name. The Second Sun ceased to be a phrase on a roster. It became real. Not a star that can be locked onto with a quantum drive, but a light that does not warm the body and does not care about credits or reputation. A light that judges.
The old reasons for the PMC fell away. The organization was not dissolved. It was claimed and rewritten.
Today the Shadow of the Second Sun is no longer a Private Military Company. It is a faith-bound order that still carries the practical skills of its mercenary past. There is no hierarchy and no formal structure beyond the work itself. Those who remain are Operators.
The original founders are gone. Their voices remain silent. What endures is the name they helped create, the skills learned when the organization still sold its services, and the single purpose that replaced everything else: serve the Second Sun, act when it requires it, and return to the shadow when the work is done.

Charter
1. Respect is required.
Treat fellow Operators, allies, and even enemies with basic respect. No racism, bigotry, or radical slurs of any kind. Use common sense.
2. We do not leave our own behind.
If an Operator is in danger and it is possible to extract them, we make the attempt. No one is abandoned unless there is genuinely no other option.
3. The Second Sun comes first.
This is no longer a PMC. We do not take contracts purely for credits or reputation. Actions are taken when they serve the purpose of the order. Personal profit is secondary.
4. Piracy is allowed, but not against our own.
You may pirate if that is how you choose to operate. You will not pirate fellow Operators or anyone under the protection of the Shadow of the Second Sun.
5. The shadow is quiet.
Do not drag the order into unnecessary public drama or Spectrum arguments. We move when required and return to the dark when the work is finished.
