The Sidereal Reach Foundation unites explorers, builders, traders, and rangers in pursuit of humanity’s future among the stars.

History

The Sidereal Reach Foundation was born from a simple desire: to experience as much of Star Citizen as possible.

It was founded by two backers who realised that many of the game’s greatest fantasies only truly exist when shared with friends and companions. The dream of captaining a capital ship, leading an expedition into the unknown, fighting alongside a squadron of trusted pilots, or bringing home the rarest resources in the galaxy depends upon having good people beside you.

As we spent more time in the ‘verse, we realised that moving from a solo, efficiency-focused style of play to a group-oriented one required more than simply filling crew stations. It meant offering each other opportunities, supporting each other’s ambitions, and refusing to treat fellow players as the NPC support cast in somebody else’s story.

We realised that together we could create experiences that would be difficult or impossible to achieve alone. We could provide opportunities to pilot and crew some of the largest and most specialised ships in the ’verse. We could organise expeditions, industrial operations, combat deployments, and rescue missions. More importantly, we could create an environment where every member both receives and provides those opportunities in equal measure.

We want our members to captain ships and crew them. To lead operations and support them. To pursue their own goals while helping others pursue theirs. We want you to spend an evening coordinating mining lasers with your crew, standing shoulder to shoulder in a firefight on a distant world, hauling supplies to the edge of civilisation, or exploring a place nobody has seen before.

We want our members to take initiative, organise themselves, and answer the call when an org-mate needs help. We want people to feel that their goals matter, and to know that they have friends willing to help them achieve those goals. In return, we ask that they offer the same support to others.

We also believe that the best stories are not always the successful ones. Sometimes the most memorable moments come when everything goes wrong. We want to be the kind of organisation that can watch its ships burn in the black, lose the objective, and still be laughing on comms afterwards because the experience was worth more than the outcome.

So we founded this simple organisation with a simple doctrine and a simple set of rules. We are making a simple request:

Come and see the ’verse with us.

The Sidereal Reach Foundation is an exploration-centric cooperative. Member funded, member led, and built for the benefit of its members. We band together to discover new frontiers, build the paths that allow others to follow, and protect those who travel alongside us.

We do not maintain a military or a militia. We have rangers: capable individuals who make their own decisions and bring their own expertise. When circumstances require leadership, one of our own steps forward and takes responsibility for the challenge at hand. They are followed not because they hold rank, but because they have earned the trust and confidence of those around them.

We’ll carve a path through the furthest reaches of the galaxy. We’ll be the first to gaze upon new horizons. We’ll build the road for those who follow. And we’ll do it together, reaching ever further into the dark than any of us could alone.

Manifesto

The Sidereal Reach Foundation exists for those who gaze at distant stars and feel the call to travel them. We are member-led, member funded, and we succeed on the basis of member cooperation.

We are explorers, builders, traders, haulers, miners, salvagers, medics, scouts, combat pilots, and gunners. We are a home for those who can captain at sunrise and crew by nightfall; for those who can excel alone, and excel further alongside companions. We welcome the self-led, the headstrong, and the cooperative.

Our members seek to experience all facets of the verse, carving out their own stories while still supporting the stories of others. We honour those who claim glory by forging it, and those who lift their compatriots as they, too, forge their own.

Members bring their own courage, their own goals, and their own ships. They stand behind their fellows or step forward when the moment demands it. They seek adventure with friends and answer threats as a team. They need never be idle, ever ready with a star to reach for.

Three pillars hold the Foundation aloft:

  • Exploration: we go first, and lay the trail that allows for others to follow.
  • Industry: we bring points of civilisation to the fringes of the ‘verse; each the foundation of the next adventure.
  • Security: We stand against the perils of the void, not only for ourselves, but for those who travel alongside us.

We co-operate with those brave souls who carry light into the black beside us. We bring safety and order to the roads we tread. We give when others need, and waste nothing.

Our members have the freedom to pursue their own goals, and the responsibility to stand for the goals of the Foundation. We offer safety freely, but guard against its exploitation. We fight when we must, trade when we can, and treat kindred travellers as family. We neither harbour nor tolerate attacks upon our own.

Charter

The Sidereal Reach Foundation is a member-led pioneer organisation. We are a multi-functional, multi-disciplinary outfit with combat capacity but we are not a militarised organisation. Our purpose is to bring infrastructure and security to the fringes of space in order to push ever further into the void.

The Foundation supports exploration, logistics, industry, trade, salvage, mining, medical support, settlement activity, and defensive operations. We exist to help members access all facets of the game while making effective use of their own time, ships, skills, and interests.

Our mission is to support member-led gameplay within a cooperative community. We aim to provide members with the means to make the most of their assets without reducing anyone to a background role in another player’s story. Members should be able to captain, crew, build, trade, explore, defend, and prosper on fair terms.

Seven principles guide our philosophy:

  1. Member agency: members are not assets to be assigned by default.
  2. Mutual support: cooperation is expected when participating in Foundation operations.
  3. Fair reward: profit and salvage splits should be fair and agreed before work begins.
  4. Operational clarity: during an operation, someone leads, leading doesn’t mean being “the boss”.
  5. Respect for time: real life comes first, we have no mandatory participation or activity requirements.
  6. Competence over rank: titles exist to organise work and provide access to expertise, not to create status.
  7. Defence, not predation: combat exists to protect the Foundation, its members, and its interests.

New members complete a one-month trial period. During this time, both the prospect and the Foundation can determine whether the fit is right.

At the end of the trial period, existing members may raise objections to permanent membership. Objections will be discussed in good faith. Permanent membership will be offered if no serious objections are raised, or if any objections are resolved.

Members of the foundation enjoy a set of gameplay and organisational rights:

  • Members retain ownership of personal ships, cargo, money, equipment, and claims.
  • Members choose which operations to join.
  • Members may organise operations under fair Foundation rules.
  • Members may decline requests to crew ships.
  • Members may raise concerns about leadership, conduct, or organisational decisions.
  • Members may leave without penalty.
  • Real life takes priority over the game.

Members are held to a set of responsibilities to their fellows:

  • Do not harass, abuse, or discriminate.
  • Do not scam members.
  • Do not steal from Foundation operations.
  • Do not sabotage operations.
  • Follow operation leadership once you have joined an operation.
  • Communicate if leaving mid-operation.
  • Respect agreed loot, cargo, salvage, and profit splits.
  • Do not bring avoidable trouble onto the Foundation.
  • Do not use the Foundation name to threaten, extort, intimidate, or grief.

The Foundation has a relatively flat leadership structure. Leadership exists to organise activity, coordinate operations, maintain standards, and provide expertise across different gameplay domains.

Members are expected to be self-led and to pursue their own goals. Foundation leadership may create opportunities, request support, and coordinate operations, but they are not here to assign members as permanent crew or issue standing orders. Any member can and should organise and lead operations as they see fit at any time. Support your fellows when they step up to organise and lead group content.

The Foundation is not a combat-first organisation, but combat is a core part of life on the frontier. We expect members to engage with PvE combat both solo and in groups, and we encourage but do not require members to participate in defensive PvP where appropriate. The more we are willing to fight for each other the more successful we will be, but we understand that PvP is not for everyone.

The Foundation does not antagonise other players for the purpose of manufacturing PvP. We fight to protect members, assets, operations, territory, and legitimate interests. We do not define ourselves by predation.

The Foundation is not specifically a roleplay organisation, but roleplayers are welcome.

We encourage in-game discussion to be conducted from an in-universe perspective where practical. We also recognise that this is not always possible, appropriate, or efficient. Members should respect each other’s immersion and participate at their own level of comfort.

The Foundation operates a three-strikes system for conduct that needlessly disrupts, harms, or undermines other members or Foundation operations.

The three-strikes system may be waived for serious misconduct. Harassment, hate speech, theft, malicious sabotage, targeted abuse, or severe damage to the Foundation or its members will result in immediate removal.

The Foundation’s primary objective is to enjoy the game together. All members agree to support that goal through fair conduct, mutual respect, and cooperative play.
