Welcome to Sunk Cost Fallacy [SNKCF].

We’ve invested too much into this life in the black to turn back now, so we might as well make it a good run.

History

The Sunk Cost Syndicate

In the early expansion of the Stanton system, a collective of Deaf and Hard of Hearing miners, engineers, and pilots found themselves ignored by the corporate “standards” of the UEE. Tired of being marginalized by audio-reliant systems, they formed their own network, built on visual communication and absolute trust.

The name Sunk Cost Fallacy began as a cynical joke among the founders—a reference to the staggering amount of credits they had poured into ships that the law told them they shouldn’t be flying. But as their fleet grew, the joke turned into a philosophy: We’ve invested too much to ever look back. They moved into the shadows of Grim HEX and the belt of Yela, refining a tactical sign language that allowed them to coordinate raids in total silence. Over time, the org evolved from a survivalist group into a diverse syndicate. It became a haven for those who play by their own rules—whether they are “honorable” rogues who spare the innocent or ruthless privateers who prioritize the payout above all else.

Manifesto

We are a casual, roleplay-centric pirate syndicate. We aren’t bound by a single moral compass—our ranks are filled with honorable rogues who only target corporate giants, ruthless cutthroats who take what they want, and every shade of gray in between. The org doesn’t dictate your conscience. We operate by a simple rule: the crew comes first, and we always watch each other’s backs. What you do out there is your business, but when we fly together, we fly as one.

The Silent Advantage
In the vacuum of space, silence isn’t a limitation; it’s our greatest weapon.

Our ranks are proudly composed of Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and hearing citizens alike. Our hearing crewmates have adapted beautifully to our visual-first operations, keeping comms disciplined and learning to speak with their hands. We always welcome new players who are willing to embrace this silent, tactical playstyle.

We operate using advanced visual comms and a highly adapted tactical sign language (rooted in ancient Earth’s ASL). When we breach a hull or execute a silent boarding action, our coordination is flawless, instantaneous, and entirely invisible to audio-monitoring tech.

Our Playstyle

  • Casual & Inclusive: Real life comes first. We are here to enjoy the Verse, share some laughs, and fly together without the pressure of hardcore min-maxing.
  • Roleplay Ready: We love to lean into the lore. Whether we are negotiating a “toll” with a passing cargo ship, planning a heist at a Grim HEX bar, or arguing over the ethics of our latest score, we keep the immersion alive.
  • Honor Among Thieves (Mostly): Your morality is your own. Some of us will spare a crew if they surrender; others won’t leave witnesses. However, we draw the line at griefing. We play for the thrill of the piracy and the quality of the roleplay, not to ruin the game for others.

“You never hear us coming. You only see what we leave behind.”

Charter

Laws of the Fallacy

These are the OOC (Out-of-Character) rules that govern our community to ensure a fun, inclusive environment for all.

  1. Accessibility & Language: SNKCF is a Deaf and Hard of Hearing-centric organization. All official operations prioritize visual communication (ASL/Text). Hearing members are welcome but must respect and adapt to our visual-first environment.
  1. No Griefing: While we encourage all styles of piracy (from “good” to “bad” roleplay), we strictly prohibit griefing, pad-ramming, or any behavior intended solely to ruin another player’s experience. We are here for the roleplay and the heist.
  1. Real Life First: We are a casual organization. Your job, family, and health always come before Star Citizen. There are no mandatory play hours.
  1. Internal Peace: While we may be “bad” pirates to the UEE, we are a family internally. Any drama or harassment between members is grounds for immediate removal.
  1. Chain of Signal: During tactical operations, members should follow the lead of the designated Signalers to ensure our “Silent Advantage” remains effective.
