The 4 foundational principles

• Anthropocentric
  • The understanding that human life is valued above all other organisms, and will be treated as such, irrespective of ones background, worldview or affiliation.

• Independence
  • The state of an impartial and neutral person which does not depend on others for substinence and is exempted from external control, undue influence or the power of those individual and group entities affiliating with any political, financial, social, military or any other such agency other then their own.

• Collectivist pacifism
  • The position that one obtains, utilizes and executes strength, knowledge and wisdom which will result in the least harm done to mankind, holding the life of the human above all. This does not deny using force in defense against observed violence expressed by a human either against oneself or another, where it may be morally justified to defend the self or the human, such as fending off a violent attacker through force.

• Equality of Opportunity
  • The view that responsibility and authority are obtained through individual merit and skill instead of ones expression, status or perceived social value.

The 7 intrinsic values

• Humility
  • The modest comprehension of ones own value or importance.

• Charity
  • The disposition of the heart which inclines one to think favorable of their human compatriots and to do them well, providing benefactions or gratuitus services where capable, relieving those in distress.

• Fortitude
  • The quality of mind which enables one to encounter danger and difficulties with firmness and courage and to bear pain or adversity without murmurings, depression or despondency.

• Prudence
  • The propensity towards vigilance and to examine carefully all the circumstances that may affect a determination or a measure to be adopted.

• Faithfulness
  • The assent of the mind to the truth of a matter and ones adherence to loyalty and duty and the disposition towards veracity.

• Dignity
  • True honor; nobleness or elevation of mind, consisting in a high sense of propriety, truth and justice, with an abhorrence of immoral and wicked actions; opposed to vice.

• Responsibility
  • The condition of being accountable or answerable for ones conduct towards materials, instruments, human beings, sentient and non sentient life.

NAME

• 57TH SAINTS

Mission Statement

• To steward those of humanity subject to deprivation, irrespective of being found in mere distress or major tribulation.

Objective

• This organization exists primarily to liberate human life, alleviate human suffering and maintain dignity outside of, during and in the aftermath of natural and unnatural disaster and crises wherever it is found, impartially, neutrally and independently.
  This organization exists secondarily to resist the xeno adversarius, achieved through both passively thwarting the xeno’s corrupting influence upon humanity and actively abjugating the human spirit from the xeno’s thrall.

Purpose

• Humanities resilience as a whole is recorded throughout history, yet humanities whole is the sum of its individual parts and it is there where we may observe those who are, or have become, vulnerable. This organization has been established to bring together humans who aspire to alleviate their fellow brethren from affliction where it is identified.

Ministration

• Services will primarily be provided through medical and engineering branches, where both man and machine can either be ministered to on location, or evacuated and escorted to a sanctuary. The service fee will be based on component replacement costs and a pay what you want system which is not enforced. The organization will have a primary support cadre focusing on farming and salvaging which provides the organization with the necessary materials, provision and income to continue operations and a secondary support cadre consisting of the Escort, Scout, Pathfinder, Courier and Merchant branches.
  Every member is foundationally a medic (Medicus) or engineer (Mechanicus), which means they understand the rudimentary workings of either chosen discipline and will subsequently branch into any available position within the organization based on their aspirations and merit.

Constraints

• 57th Saints is an independent organization, yet does not abstain from building rapport with other organizations and individuals.
  Within the confines of the organization there is a certain professionalism requested, as such, profanity, gossip, theft, deception, using lethal measures where non lethal was applicable, degrading or deliberately antagonizing human life and/or their worldviews and anything else that may result in unjustified harm done to human life, are prohibited. See “Collectivist Pacifism”.

Xeno-Adversarius

• There are an uncountable amount of flora and fauna to be found around the ‘verse and in comparison only an infinitesimal amount of these harbor a form of sapience. Until the subject has been addressed more appropriately, the following is required for a creature to be claimed sapient;

1. Capable of communicating complex concrete and abstract concepts by the use of signs, sound and/or gestures. A concrete concept is designating an element, for example water, fire, earth or sky and limbs and organs. Abstract concepts is subject to a form of higher order thinking, to enable symbolic reasoning, defining complex ideas and formulating theories. For example, the ability to; keep time, conceptualize morals and values, rights, reasoning, wisdom, distinguishing between friends, family, enemy and the ability to somewhat express feelings. This does not deny the possibility for an entity capable of thought transference, the question here is how this could be observed by outsiders.
2. Capable of combining various materials and, with or without use of (external) reaction, force, power and/or energy, change it into other materials and/or devices.
3. Ability to conceptualize life and death as an abstract, concrete and philosophical concept.

Xenothreat

• From time to time 57th Saints has either been compared to xenothreat or condemned to be one of its cells by individuals of all profiles, due to our stance towards the wayward xenos.
  57th Saints and xenothreat may agree on various points in regards to the threat we, as humanity, are facing from nefarious xenos, the difference between xenothreat and 57th Saints is clearly observed within the considerable disregard xenothreat seems to show towards human life throughout their incursions and infiltrations in pursuit of their goals.
  Seemingly going as far as harming and even killing innocent bystanders when attacking either the xenos or high profile individuals who provide various forms of backing or support for one or more xeno species.
  Even though 57th Saints disputes engaging xenos in whatever way beneficial to the xeno sapiens, 57th Saints does not condone any form of retaliation that results in human casualties.
  Every human life is redeemable, why then prevent their redemption?
  For those who are still in doubt, our clearest proclamation of independence from xenothreat is sanctioning members of 57th Saints, within the normal constraints, with the acquisition and integration of xeno technology, something xenothreat shows to be vehemently against.

Technology

• There are to be made 3 distinctions between technology;
  Self Actualizing Automations, Static Automations and Devices.

1. Self Actualizing Automation also called Silica Animus is technology imbued with software, or similar, which provides a machine with (rudimentary) artificial (generative) cognition resulting in decision making without intercession of a human arbiter, and/or possess (rudimentary) forms of sentience, also referred to as self-consciousness.
In simpler terms; Such an automation is capable of obtaining new information through their sensors, formulating decisions and (re)program itself autonomously, it is not restrained through a ‘human-machine collaboration’. Also; Autonomous operating systems that function through a form of self determination.
2. Static Automation is imbued with software that is wholly sapient developed, managed and supervised. The automation is unable to introduce new datasets, (re)program itself and make autonomous decisions independent of a human arbiter.
3. Device This category contains tools, instruments, apparatuses, equipment and/or implements which contain non but the most rudimentary forms of software or lack any at all.

• Category 2 and 3 are sanctioned whilst category 1 is treated as an abominable and perilous form of sentience. As such, it is marked for extermination on sight subject to the constraints found within the organization its Codex.
  Category 2 and 3 technology lacks sentience, also referred to as self-consciousness, the wielder of such an item of technology becomes the moral arbiter, in turn using the technology to the benefit or detriment of themselves, those around them and their environment.
  As such 57th Saints sanctions the use of category 2 and 3 technology, regardless of it being of human or xeno’s origin, to the benefit of those around them, their environment and themselves and condones its acquisition in ways that does not benefit the xenos adversarius.
  The ways of acquisition should however be carefully considered within the spirit of circumspectness, as to not result in drawbacks which could result in unwarranted harm to human life.
