The Benevolent and Respectable Order of the Stormwal is a social fraternity for those seeking better company in Star Citizen. Conversation over contracts, goof over grind, and a spirit you’ll recognize when you find it. You may already be one of us!
The Benevolent and Respectable Order of the Stormwal traces its origins, by tradition, to a small fellowship said to have formed many centuries ago among early observers of Orison’s cloud seas. Accounts—preserved more in retelling than in record—describe individuals who spent long hours watching the great Stormwals drifting through the upper atmosphere, and who came to share a quiet conviction that something meaningful might be learned from such attention. What, precisely, was understood has never been formally documented, and the Order has never claimed to possess a definitive account. Instead, these early experiences gave rise to a lasting culture of fellowship, discretion, and mutual regard that would come to define the organization.
Over time, the Order developed into a social fraternity devoted to good company, shared experience, and a spirit of quiet generosity. While it has grown and adapted across generations, it continues to uphold certain traditions rooted in its earliest days—chief among them a respect for the unspoken, and a belief that not all things of value require explanation. Today, the Benevolent and Respectable Order of the Stormwal presents itself simply as a place for like-minded individuals to gather, connect, and enjoy the company of others, maintaining its customs with both sincerity and a measured sense of humor befitting its long and curious history.
We gather for the simple reason that the ‘verse is better shared.
We are not here to chase efficiency, nor to measure worth by credits, rank, or output. There are plenty of places for that. We are here for good company—for the conversations that stretch longer than intended, for the plans that take unexpected turns, and for the kind of nights that are remembered long after their purpose is forgotten.
We believe that presence matters more than performance. That a spare seat, a shared story, or a bit of well-timed help carries more weight than any perfectly executed run. What we have, we offer—not out of obligation, but because it makes the experience richer for everyone involved.
We do not require perfection. We do not expect uniformity. The Order has always had room for those who don’t quite fit elsewhere, and just as much room for those who simply prefer a different pace. Respect is assumed. Enjoyment is encouraged. Taking things a little less seriously is, in its own way, taken quite seriously.
There are traditions we keep and habits we share, some spoken, some not. You will not be given a full explanation, and you will not need one. The important things tend to reveal themselves in time, usually when you’ve stopped looking for them.
If you find yourself here, you are welcome. If you stay, you’ll understand why others do. And if you leave, you’ll likely carry a piece of it with you—whether you meant to or not.
We, the assembled and otherwise occupied members of the Benevolent and Respectable Order of the Stormwal, do hereby set forth these understandings, not as rigid laws, but as guiding sensibilities, to be upheld in good faith and with reasonable flexibility.
That we shall keep good company above all else, and conduct ourselves in such a manner that those in our presence may find ease, enjoyment, and a welcome absence of unnecessary friction.
That we shall regard one another as equals in standing, extending respect freely and expecting it in return, without need of title, rank, or demonstration.
That we shall, when occasion allows, offer of our time, knowledge, and means—not from obligation, but from the shared understanding that such gestures improve the whole of the experience.
That we shall endeavor, in all things, not to worsen a situation through carelessness, escalation, or poor judgment, and when in doubt, to err toward restraint.
That we shall not burden ourselves with excessive seriousness, remembering that the purpose of this Order is not perfection, but presence, and that a well-timed bit of foolishness is often of greater value than flawless execution.
And finally, that we shall preserve the character of the Order without over-defining it, allowing certain matters to remain pleasantly unexplained, and trusting that those who belong will come to understand in due course.
Thus agreed, upheld, and interpreted as needed.
