History

From the time Shadowbane launched in 2003 until The Red Army’s official formation in 2005, the original members of our guild played together in one form or another. Initially we played in several larger Shadowbane nations on the Mourning server, including Equilibrium and Ictus Dominus. After a brief hiatus in 2005, the founding members returned to Shadowbane and formally created The Red Army as an in-game guild. At that time we had only a handful of core members, including Kao, Nagol, RedOctober, Sim, Trotsky (a.k.a. Swiftzero), and Xfasiuos. To this day these six individuals remain the core of The Red Army.

Not long after forming, The Red Army established friendly relations with The Order of the Pink Pansies (“OPP”), and ultimately became a sub-guild thereof. Our time with OPP was a particularly memorable one and we formed numerous new friendships. Eventually OPP decided to disband, but The Red Army joined with several other ex-OPP members to form a new nation, The Lady Killers (“TLK”). In time TLK, too, opted to disband and The Red Army struck out on its own as a small Shadowbane nation in its own right. Though we never grew to be a particularly large nation, we maintained a dedicated and skilled core group of players that allowed us to compete with larger and more established powers on Mourning server.

As Shadowbane neared the ends of its life and Mourning was closed, The Red Army played with various guilds on a several different servers, including Thurin and Vindication. However, by this time we were looking to other games, and briefly maintained a presence in Everquest 2, Vanguard Online, Age of Conan, and Warhammer Online. Our members also played non-MMO games together, such as Neverwinter Nights, Defense of the Ancients, and Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory.

Sometime in 2009, several Red Army members made a foray into World of Warcraft and joined with another guild—Jenova Project. Twiggie, the leader of Jenova Project, welcomed various Red Army members into his guild over the following months. In turn, The Red Army welcomed Jenova Project to use our Ventrilo server, which led to close relations between the guilds. Though few original Red Army members played World of Warcraft, we enjoyed playing other games together, including Minecraft, Battlefield 3-4, League of Legends, Diablo 3, and so on. We’ve also ventured into many recent MMOs together, most notable of which is Planetside 2, which The Red Army maintains a small presence in to this day.

In the future, The Red Army is looking forward to establishing a significant presence in Everquest Next, Camelot Unchained, and Star Citizen. Meanwhile, we remain a strong, close-knit gaming community that can always be found chatting in Ventrilo and playing games together. If you have any questions about The Red Army, please visit our forums and we would be happy to answer them.
