WAR IS OVER IF YOU WANT IT
Tired of playing at War? Why not play at Peace?

The White Rose Conventicle is dedicated to the advancement of civil society in the Star Citizen Universe.

History

History? Well, yes. That’s me, below, long ago in a galaxy far, far away. Incarna era. Enough said.
Above, recent me in New Babbage, which seems my planetary home, when not trying to mine for clothing or probe the “habitability” of the SCU.

When can I turn space gypsy, camping out on lunar surfaces, showing myself in crowded places only to sell or buy or go out on the town?

I’ve been looking in here periodically since late 2013, looking and hoping for a fully habitable Sci Fi universe. Almost there. Doesn’t ever have to be “finished.” I’m not crazy enough to expect that. Just needs a little bit more….

Manifesto

Came a day when I got tired of playing at war, tired of killing and being killed. Suddenly, it all seemed hopelessly ugly. And I thought, why not play at peace?

The real world, from time immemorial a world of war, saturated with violence of every kind and scale, nevertheless, has always had its pacifists, peace movements, and vast numbers of ordinary people living perfectly ordinary non-violent lives. Why should here be especially different?

The White Rose Conventicle is dedicated to populating and advocating the use of the many public, civilian spaces in the persistent universe — its bars, restaurants, lounges, dance floors, and even the MicroTech Commons jogging track — and to exploring niches for trade, mining, industry, science and, as it becomes possible, off-the-grid living on planetary surfaces.

Playing pacifist in a game of warfare is not easy. I’ve been doing it for a good number of years, in many PvP games. (There’s no virtue to virtual pacifism in a PvE environment.) It’s a real challenge. If you’re not good at it, strategically and tactically, you’re going to die a lot. It’s only for the foolish and the brave.

Let the play killers kill each other, imagining a future that simply cannot be, because no human society has or ever will sustain the rate of death and depopulation enacted in the play Valhallas of games of war. We will turn ourselves toward the other tasks — living, working, socializing — needed to make the Star Citizen Universe truly the most complete SciFi sim ever projected.
