The UEE Naval Defense Authority (UEENDA) is an Armed Corps serving under the office of the High Command Legatus Navium. The NDA operates as a military and police force within the the UEE and as an exploratory fleet beyond UEE borders.

History

In 2684 a few years after the first Vanduul attack on Humanity, the United Empire of Earth founded the Naval Quick Response Force (NQRF). The NQRF was intended to be a minutemen branch of the UEE Navy. Originally comprised of small attack wings stationed in each colonized system, the goal was to provide colonists, and their property, protection from raiding parties and act as a stop-gap measure until naval squadrons could arrive. The NQRF was marginally effective as many colonists were arming themselves through corporations. The quick response task forces frequently had to contend with both the vanduul and untrained colonists.

The NQRF was plagued with political issues. The UEEN was too far removed from the frontier colonies to administer adequate oversight for each of the attack wings. Many corporate backed delegates argued that the NQRF was wasted resources, and that defense contractors would be a more efficient means of providing protection to the outer colonies. However, the UEEN felt that allowing frontier citizens to exorbitantly arm themselves would only allow piracy to gain stronger footholds in uncharted systems, and open way for looser legislation on private gun laws throughout the UEE.

The final blow to the NQRF came during a landslide of unfortunate events. In 2757 several vanduul raids hit the outer colonies. These attacks were met with minimal resistance from the stationed NQRF wings. The wings had been seeing fewer supply runs in recent years to due to the political mire surrounding the NQRF. In the wake of the destruction of 3 attack wings, several other wings abandoned their systems and fled. Declared traitors of the UEE, these wings eventually became pirate bands armed with military grade weapons and vessels.

Now facing the threat of the Vanduul Nomads and increasing accounts of syndicated crime, the UEEN formally disbanded the increasingly incompetent NQRF and reorganized its wings into the Imperial Frontier Battle Group. The battle group was colloquially known among frontier colonies as the Imperator’s Hand.

During the reorganization of the NQRF, the current Imperator saw a chance to create an imperialistic fleet that would serve as a direct means of Imperial influence on outlying colonies. The Imperator’s Hand was used in several subjugation campaigns and aggressively sought the expansion of UEE borders. The battle group was feared among colonists and greatly looked down upon by flag officers within the UEEN. Under the command of Messer XI, the Hand was responsible for several atrocities and had completely abandoned the frontier. Messer XI used the fleet to cull small insurrections, dissidents, and dispose of political adversaries that threatened the Imperator’s power.

After the Massacre of Garron II, and the subsequent fall of Linton Messer XI, the Imperator’s Hand was completely dismantled, and her assets redistributed throughout the UEE military. Erin Toi, aware that the UEE’s boarders were still under threat of the Vanduul, and crime running rampant after the successful revolution, used his influence to persuade the UEEN to create a permanent and larger naval body that would secure UEE borders and aid the Advocacy in policing UEE systems. In 2799 a formal charter was drafted ushering in the United Empire of Earth Naval Defense Authority.

The United Empire of Earth Naval Defense Authority (UEENDA) is an armed government organization committed to serving and protecting the UEE. We are a Team founded upon Commitment, Service, and Protection. The UEENDA carries out several important naval functions within the Empire.

The UEENDA also has a non-combat Military-Civilian cooperation branch which serves in a capacity that both benefits the UEEN and the UEE. This branch is the Naval Defense Authority Civil Corps (NDACC). It is important to note that the NDACC can be called upon for combat service as part of Task Forces and large-scale operations. To maintain the chain of command, civilians within the NDACC carry military rank with all attached authority and privilege. The duties and functions of the NDACC are:

Only through these foundations can we achieve Victory over the Empire’s enemies and the dark side of human nature. These principles will guide the all soldiers and officers of the UEE Naval Defense Authority so that the mistakes of the past are not repeated. Every member of the Naval Defense Authority – active, reserve, and civilian, must become the living personifications of these Values. For one hundred and forty-eight years, members of the Naval Defense Authority have stood as a bastion of protection for our Citizens, fighting the Vanduul and pirates. We are Committed to the UEE and her Citizens. We stand ready to Serve at any time against any threat. We will Protect our comrades and fellow Citizens, even with our lives. *Minister of Naval Defense is the Highest rank exclusive to the UEENDA. This rank is held as an elected office from among serving Flag Officers of a UEE Pay grade which includes the ‘F’ letter code. This office is held until career resignation.

Purpose and Mission of the UEE Naval Defense Authority

The NDA is tasked with the missions of security of the United Empire of Earth and the exploration of uncharted and unclaimed space beyond UEE borders. Through these main objectives the NDA strives to bring glory and strength to the UEE and her Citizens through its core Values.

Security

The NDA is a military naval organization that dedicates itself to protecting the peace and freedoms of the UEE. Through war-time military actions against the enemies of the Empire and policing actions against criminals within, the NDA utilizes its assets to accomplish the following:

*Maintain a minimum standard of peace along UEE border systems.
*Intercept enemy craft away from UEE colony sites.
*Patrol border systems for criminal and syndicate activity.
*Maintain combat readiness among all NDA personnel.
*Strive for military excellence through continuous training and war-game simulations.

Exploration

Being a frontier-based naval organization, the NDA is also tasked with the exploration of uncharted systems beyond UEE borders. The NDACC was organized as the exploratory arm of the NDA. This arm is led by the Undersecretary of Naval Defense. The NDACC carries out its order through the following:

*Chartering expeditions to unknown systems.
*Conducting planetary and lunar surveys.
*Establishing bases for further development by Citizens.
*Mapping quantum jumps lanes and deploying quantum buoys.
*Conducting scientific research beyond UEE borders.
*Studying spatial phenomena.
