The Ultranauts are a tight-knit but inclusive group of spacefarers dedicated to embarking on adventures and honing the skills to pull through when things inevitably go horribly wrong. Join the Ultranauts; no better friends, no worse enemies!

History

The Ultranauts were formed in 2947 (October 2017) by Pyrodyne and Apophis with the intention of creating an inclusive but tight-knit crew of enthusiastic spacefarers to explore the 2.6 PU, the 3.0 PTU, and ultimately the full game once it comes out in the murky future. The group quickly grew as the personal charisma of the Founders and their outstanding recruitment and outreach tactics won the hearts and minds of millions.

Manifesto

Who Are We?

The Ultranauts are a group of players dedicated to the gameplay possibilities of multi-crew ships and multi-ship fleets that Star Citizen offers. We’re mostly casual players, although we do practice our favorite roles regularly in order to better facilitate our quest for glory and riches in the Star Citizen universe!

What is Our Mission?

The Ultranauts strive to operate ships, ground vehicles, and fleets as effectively as possible in carrying out any mission imaginable in the ‘verse, with the sole exception of piracy. Our ultimate goal is to acquire more and larger ships, and learn how to operate them effectively, such that we can become a decisive part of large fleet battles, expeditions, or ground engagements!

How Much of a Time Investment Do We Ask?

We will be conducting group operations once a week, which all members will be expected to participate in to the extent that real life permits.

Why Should I Join You?

If you want to fly or crew a ship in an org small enough that everybody knows your name, but big and competent enough to rescue you if you get in trouble, the Ultranauts might be the org you’re looking for. Additionally, If you need a competent crew and escorts for your ship, if you want to experience the more social features of the game through group operations, or if you just want some company while you play so you don’t feel so alone out in the black, there’s no better place for you than here with us. Join the Ultranauts today!

Charter

The Ultranauts Ascribe to Two Primary Rules:

Rule #1: Do not be a jerk.
Rule #2: Real life comes first.

Notice: The Ultranauts are an inclusive organization, and strive to create an environment where everyone can be comfortable. To this end, any sexist or racist remarks will be aggressively construed as a breach of Rule #1.

Breach of any of the primary rules is grounds for disciplinary action ranging from dismissal from the Org to, in the case of more egregious violations, setting of a bounty.

Secondary Rules:

#1: Do not engage in piracy.
#2: If you are crewing a ship, you must obey your captain.
#3: If you are a ship captain participating in a fleet operation, you must obey the Operational Hierarchy.

Additional rules will be added as events warrant, although we hope that our members will try to behave in a way as to make the addition of further rules unnecessary.

Breach of any of the secondary rules is grounds for disciplinary action ranging from reprimand to dismissal from the Org.

Organization of the Ultranauts:

The Ultranauts adhere to a chain of command in multi-ship combat situations or organized operations.

Command Hierarchy of the Ultranauts:

The command hierarchy of the Ultranauts deals with the in-game chain of command. The Ultranauts strive to strike a balance between casual play and operational efficiency. To this end, while there will be a chain of command within the organization, we hope to give everyone a voice in setting our goals and operations, and confine obedience to superior officers to situations where it is necessary to the survival and efficient operation of the fleet. As such, adherence to the hierarchy is enforced during weekly fleet operations, but is not enforced in other situations except where it is necessary to the efficient operation of the Fleet (for instance, crewmen must always obey their captains).

Fleet Admiral – Admirals of the Fleet have authority over all other members of the Org, may delegate authority to Fleet Officers at their discretion, and have the final say in appointments to all other ranks.

Fleet Officers – Fleet officers are appointed by Fleet Admirals. The position may be permanent, or more likely will be a temporary appointment for the duration of a single operation, and will be based on the skills of the individual as they pertain to the type of operation. In general, Ship Captains must obey orders issued by Fleet Officers, although for larger operations multiple Fleet Officers may be appointed, with multiple Ship Captains assigned to each, in which case a Ship Captain need only obey the Fleet Officer to whom she was assigned. In the case of dedicated ground operations, Sergeants may directly report to a Fleet Officer.

Ship Captain – Every ship in the Ultranauts is commanded by a Ship Captain. The owner of a ship will by default be appointed Captain of any ship they own, although in the event that an individual owns multiple ships taking part in an Org operation, he may only captain the one on which he is present. An individual may be appointed Ship Captain of a ship that they don’t own if the organization obtains the consent of the owner. In such a case, the appointment would be temporary and last for as long as the owner desires. Crewmen and Sergeants embarked on the Captain’s ship are subordinate to their Ship Captain. In the event that a ship contains too few Marines to necessitate a Sergeant, the ship’s Marines will answer directly to the Captain.

Sergeants – Sergeants are individuals tasked with commanding squads of Marines during ground operations. Sergeants must obey the Captain of the ship they are embarked upon, or, in the case of dedicated ground operations, report directly to a Fleet Officer. The position of Sergeant may be permanent or may be appointed based on merit for the duration of an operation. Marines report directly to their Sergeant, and the Sergeant may institute whatever chain of command she sees fit within her Marine complement, and may promote her Marines within that chain of command at her discretion, so long as that chain of command does not interfere with the organization’s chain of command as laid out here.

Marines – Marines are individuals who specialize in any number of ground operations, including but not limited to infantry combat and ground vehicle operation, as well as shipboard combat or EVA operations, including boarding. They report to their Sergeant. If a ship’s complement contains few enough Marines that a Sergeant is unnecessary, the Marines directly report to their Ship Captain.

Crewmen – Crewmen are any individuals that are involved in the operation of the ship on which they are embarked. This may include classic shipboard roles such as pilot, navigator, gunner as well as less traditional roles, such as doctor, prospector, mining laser operator, scanning officer, et cetera. Crewmen report directly to their Ship Captain, and the Ship Captain may institute whatever shipboard chain of command she sees fit, and may appoint her crewmen within that chain of command at her discretion, so long as that chain of command does not interfere with the organization’s chain of command as laid out here.

While the default Rank structure provided by the Star Citizen web tools implies that higher ranks are higher in prestige, it should be understood that this is not the case within the Ultranauts. The ranks as named here are for the purpose of clearly defining roles and expectations, as well as streamlining org operations; they are fluid and subject to change fairly frequently depending on an individual’s desired role within the organization and the requirements of a given operation.
