Legatum Caelestis – The Celestial Legacy
Faction of the UEC | Anti-Vanduul Tactical Corps

Motto: “Ad astra per virtutem” – To the stars through valor.

ORIGINS: FROM LEGIONS TO STARS
The roots of Legatum Caelestis trace back to Earth’s classical period — specifically to a Roman military doctrine preserved through centuries of warfare, discipline, and tactical evolution.

During the 25th century, a UEE historical warfare think tank discovered that many of the Roman Empire’s strategic principles still held value in large-scale combat — particularly in environments where asymmetric warfare, cohesion, and discipline mattered more than raw firepower.

In 2310, a UEE Naval Officer and military historian, Commander Lucius Rhane, reactivated these doctrines into a formal aerospace warfare training unit. His core belief: that disciplined small-unit cohesion and centuries-old military insight could outperform brute-force modern tactics when applied to the rapidly escalating conflicts of space.

This philosophy gave rise to Legatum Caelestis — not a cult, but an elite corps — a modern military organization built on the bones of ancient knowledge, focused on training precision fighter pilots, squadron leaders, and deep-space reconnaissance units.

ROLE IN THE MODERN UEE
Today, Legatum Caelestis functions as a special operations unit within the UEC-aligned Navy structure. Operating independently from conventional battle groups, they specialize in:

High-risk anti-Vanduul skirmish operations

Strike fleet interception

Deep-space signal relay and rescue missions

Tactical doctrine development and simulation training

Their chain of command uses terms adapted from ancient Rome, but the execution is strictly modern: every pilot and marine is expected to master not only advanced ship systems, but also small-unit command and combined-arms coordination.

“Cohorts” form the backbone of their deployments, and each “Centurion” — a senior operative — is expected to lead both in simulation and in live combat.

THE SIEGE OF HELION RIDGE (2946)
One of their most legendary moments came during the Vanduul assault on Helion Ridge, a vital UEE listening post in Caliban.

Legatum Caelestis was deployed with only a single corvette wing and five Gladius-class interceptors. When a full Vanduul raiding party descended on the outpost, the odds were hopeless.

Enacting a defensive grid called the “Lorica Array”, the unit overlapped shields, counter-jammed the enemy’s radar, and used pre-positioned satellites to simulate a larger force. The Vanduul moved to strike — and were met with surgical ambushes and sacrificial strikes from Legatum pilots.

They held the ridge for 19 hours, until a 2nd UEE fleet arrived to push the remaining Vanduul off the planet.

Only 14 of the original 86 Celestis operatives survived. But the listening post — and the entire regional data link for the Navy’s tactical AI net — was preserved.

LEGACY AND HONOR
Every new recruit swears their oath in standard UEE protocol, then receives a badge forged with recycled alloy from the wreckage at Helion Ridge. The symbol of the org — a seven-pointed star over a stylized Roman shield — is etched into every ship’s hull.

In the black, they fight not for glory.
Not for superstition.
But for the belief that even in the cold of space, discipline, courage, and legacy still matter.

Manifesto

✦ Our Views
Brotherhood is earned, never bought.

Valor is action, not appearance.

Loyalty is tested in silence, not shouted in slogans.

If you fly beside us, you are not alone.

We honor discipline without dogma, strategy without stagnation, and courage without cruelty. We believe that in every battle, no matter the odds, there is a moment when one bold soul can turn the tide.

In that moment, we choose to rise.
