We walk where others fear to tread.
We are the shadow between the stars.
We are the line drawn in the void.
In the void, we find strength.
In the darkness, we bring light.
We are the
VOIDWALKERS.
The History of the Voidwalkers
The Voidwalkers are a shadowy and enigmatic faction within the Star Citizen universe, with origins steeped in mystery and whispered legends. They are a loosely connected network of pilots, explorers, and mercenaries who traverse the darkest reaches of space, seeking fortune, knowledge, and sometimes revenge. Here’s their history as it unfolded in the depths of the ‘Verse:
Origins: The Forgotten Expeditions
The Voidwalkers trace their lineage to the 27th century, during the height of humanity’s expansion into the unknown reaches of the Stanton system and beyond. A deep-space exploration mission, known only by its codename Project Abyss, sought to chart the uncharted voids between jump points, searching for valuable resources and habitable worlds.
Tragedy struck when one of the expeditions disappeared without a trace in an uncharted nebula. Official records claimed the crew was lost to a catastrophic jump drive malfunction, but survivors later surfaced with chilling accounts of alien encounters, pirate ambushes, and betrayal by corporate sponsors. These survivors, bitter and disillusioned, banded together and swore to navigate the void on their own terms, free from the control of megacorporations and the UEE bureaucracy.
They called themselves the Voidwalkers, named for their uncanny ability to survive in the most inhospitable corners of the galaxy.
Early Days: Scavengers and Survivalists
In their early years, the Voidwalkers operated as scavengers and survivalists, relying on salvaged technology, hidden jump points, and cunning tactics to outmaneuver their adversaries. They developed a deep knowledge of uncharted systems, becoming experts in navigating anomalies, surviving hostile environments, and dealing with alien artifacts.
Their reputation as fearless explorers grew, and soon they began trading their expertise to the highest bidder. From smuggling rare minerals through pirate-infested routes to recovering lost ships from hostile zones, the Voidwalkers earned their place as essential, if controversial, figures in the underbelly of galactic commerce.
The Ghost Fleet
During the Vanduul Wars in the 29th century, rumors spread of a “Ghost Fleet” striking behind enemy lines and scavenging valuable technology from the wreckage of UEE and Vanduul battles alike. This fleet, composed of heavily modified ships and helmed by pilots who seemed to appear and vanish like specters, was later confirmed to be the Voidwalkers.
The Ghost Fleet became a symbol of hope for some and fear for others. They were known to assist stranded UEE forces on occasion, but they also sold scavenged Vanduul technology to independent factions and criminal syndicates. For the Voidwalkers, loyalty to a single faction was secondary to their mission of survival and independence.
Code of the Void
Over time, the Voidwalkers developed a loose code that bound them together despite their diverse and independent nature. The Code of the Void emphasizes freedom, loyalty to the crew, and the importance of knowledge:
The Void Calls: Explore the unknown and seek the truth, no matter how dangerous.
Survival Above All: Protect your crew and yourself. In the void, no one else will.
Trust No Masters: The megacorporations and the UEE care only for power. Never be a pawn.
Knowledge is Power: Share discoveries with those you trust; use them against those you don’t.
Modern Day: Legends in the Shadows
By the 30th century, the Voidwalkers are both a legend and a reality. They are no longer a single organization but a sprawling network of independent pilots who share a common identity and ethos. They use heavily customized ships, often painted in dark, matte tones to blend with the blackness of space, and employ advanced stealth technology scavenged from countless raids and discoveries.
The Voidwalkers are courted by powerful syndicates, independent governments, and rogue explorers alike. They are sought for their knowledge of hidden jump points, ancient alien ruins, and their uncanny ability to survive where others fail.
In the Stanton system, whispers of Voidwalker activity abound. Some say they have hidden bases deep within the asteroid fields of Pyro or among the gas clouds of Crusader. Others claim they are actively working to uncover secrets buried in the ruins of alien civilizations, hoping to gain an edge in a galaxy ruled by greed and corruption.
Symbolism and Identity
The Voidwalkers’ emblem is a shattered star encircled by a dark, featureless ring—symbolizing both their rejection of established power structures and their mastery of the void. Their motto, often scrawled in graffiti on abandoned outposts, reads: “We walk where others fear to tread.”
To many in the ‘Verse, the Voidwalkers are outlaws and scavengers. To others, they are pioneers and heroes, embodying the indomitable spirit of humanity in the face of the vast and uncaring cosmos. Whether feared or revered, one thing is certain: the Voidwalkers are never far from the edges of the map, where danger and opportunity lie in equal measure.
Who We Are
The Voidwalkers are more than a paramilitary force—we are a purpose, a principle, and a warning to those who seek to dominate through oppression and deceit. Born from the chaos of corporate greed, UEE corruption, and lawless anarchy, we exist to protect the balance of power in the ‘Verse. We are the sword in the darkness, the shield for those abandoned, and the reckoning for those who believe the void is theirs to command.
The Voidwalker Principles
The Void Protects the Free
The void belongs to no one, and neither do we. Our loyalty is to freedom—not to corporations, governments, or warlords, but to those who value independence and self-determination.
We Are the Watchers of the Black
Where the lawless thrive and the corrupt exploit, we stand vigilant. In the lawless expanses where others fear to tread, we bring discipline and order through strength and strategy.
Strength Through Unity
We are bound not by rank but by trust and shared purpose. Each Voidwalker is a vital link in the chain, and together we are unbreakable.
No Masters, No Slaves
We reject tyranny in all its forms. Whether imposed by pirate lords, UEE bureaucrats, or megacorporate overlords, domination through fear and greed has no place in the void.
The Void Is a Weapon
The emptiness of space is our greatest ally. In the vast expanse, we strike from the shadows, vanish into the black, and wield the unknown against those who would threaten us.
Action Above All
Words are hollow without action. Diplomacy and negotiation have their place, but we are not diplomats. We are warriors, and when the time comes to act, we strike decisively.
Victory Through Adaptation
The void is ever-changing, and so are we. We adapt, we overcome, and we evolve faster than our enemies.
Honor Among the Shadows
Though we operate in darkness, we hold to our code. We do not harm the innocent, and we do not fight without cause. Ours is a war of principle, not chaos.
Our Mission
To Defend the Defenseless
We protect those who cannot protect themselves from the tyranny of pirates, syndicates, and corporate exploitation.
To Challenge Oppression
We resist the overreach of the UEE and megacorporations that exploit the weak and dominate the void through greed and bureaucracy.
To Uphold the Balance
In the vastness of space, unchecked power leads to ruin. We are the counterbalance, ensuring no single force dominates the void.
Our Methods
Strike First, Strike Hard
We do not wait for permission to act. When threats arise, we engage with precision and overwhelming force.
Command the Shadows
The Voidwalkers excel in asymmetrical warfare. Stealth, sabotage, and guerrilla tactics are our hallmark. We fight on our terms, in our terrain—the void.
Independent and Unseen
We operate without allegiance to any government or corporate entity, ensuring our actions remain untainted by political or economic agendas.
Relentless Pursuit
Those who oppose freedom and balance will find no sanctuary. We hunt them to the edges of the known ‘Verse and beyond.
Declaration of Resolve
We are not pirates, but we take what is needed to ensure survival.
We are not mercenaries, but we fight for a cause greater than credits.
We are not conquerors, but we claim the void as our battleground.
We are the Voidwalkers.
We walk the line between chaos and order, light and shadow, to defend the ‘Verse from those who would consume it.
The Voidwalker Creed
For the forgotten, we rise. For the oppressed, we strike. For the balance, we endure. We are the Voidwalkers, and the void is ours to command.
