History

[WHAM] was founded by Cat, who serves as both the organization’s co-lead, and Director Of Trade. He started the group by hiring gunners for his Perseus at far too high a fee, and things moved swiftly from there. The foundational members cut their teeth collecting … teeth (and aliens) for fun and profit. Through this, we are able to unlock and experience the full breadth of engaging content in the Star Citizen universe.

Manifesto

We propose objectives to the group, either an individual wants to achieve, or something for the group as a whole. If there’s enough interest, we have an operation. As we grow and evolve, we will develop a list of potential group operations that individuals can choose to opt in on. Participants are tracked, and rewards are distributed according to participation. We keep this relatively loose at the moment, and try to accommodate individual needs as they arise.

The group supports the individual, and individuals support the group. This means helping out your org-mates when you can, and it means the org supports it’s members when they are having a rough time in-game. But what it doesn’t mean is spending your time in-game on things you aren’t enjoying. This is a game, and fun is the entire point.

[WHAM] is not prescriptive about how you choose to play the game. [WHAM] members are not prescriptive about how other members choose to play the game. We only ask (and insist) that you be cooperative, proactive and non-disruptive when joining ad-hoc, or scheduled operations. Star Citizen is a (potentially) very expensive game, and (universally) takes forever to do anything in. Respect people’s investment in the game, and respect people’s ‘free’ time, and you will be a very welcome member of this group.

[WHAM] is a work in progress. We are not starting this off with 20 ranks, 10 Director roles, fifty rules, 20 hours a week participation requirements, recruiting requirements—None of that stuff. From the perspective of all current, founding members, very little will change. New Discord channels, and probably a calendar of things we plan on trying to do. Along with those scheduled events, expect to see one or two people in “Leadership” roles.

At [WHAM] a “Leadership” role is not an opportunity or responsibility to micro-manage how a group of people play the game. What it is, is a clearly identified point of contact to answer questions about the event, and to provide structure and support to make the event run smoothly and cleanly. It is a caretaker role, and one of quiet authority. Please consider this before offering to Lead events.

If you are a participant in a scheduled event, never expect the event Lead to micromanage your gameplay. But DO expect them to ask you (or tell you) what you are responsible for during the event. For you MilSim folks, consider the lowest rank among the founding members of [WHAM] to be experienced Sergeants, and treat them accordingly

Charter

[WHAM] is collective of independent operators. We come together in ad hoc squads to combat the more challenging obstacles in the game, but also operate independently as desired. While there is an evolving structure to our group, this is not a top-down military or paramilitary organization. We are a… club of effective operators who know how to function alone, or in a large team environment. Subsequently, the nature of Org events will be a mix of ad hoc scenarios and opt-in scheduled events. You will be encouraged to participate, but never pressured. Real life is, and always will be, the top priority for all members of [WHAM].
