The White Lotus Corporation, now a leading organization in interstellar trade and exploration, traces its origins to Earth’s ancient wisdom and intriguing legends from China’s Han Dynasty (circa 210-220 B.C.). Though officially founded following humanity’s first contact with the Banu in 2438, whispered tales passed through generations suggest a mysterious origin story.

According to ancient legend within the corporation, an enigmatic celestial traveler named Ophos—possibly linked to a lost Banu world of the same name—crash-landed on Earth long before official first contact. Qi Ming, a scholar of profound insight from ancient China, reportedly encountered this being, gaining unprecedented wisdom that shaped his philosophical vision for humanity’s future among the stars. Though considered myth by most historians, these stories intriguingly persist, hinting at deeper cosmic connections that influenced the founding principles of trade and exploration.

Inspired by this legendary tale and the visionary ideals it carried, Qi Ming’s direct descendant, along with Tita Maxima, a pioneering explorer from the European Federation, formally established The White Lotus Corporation after humanity’s initial diplomatic encounters with the Banu. They embraced the symbolic name “White Lotus,” signifying purity and enlightenment, guiding their dedication primarily to interstellar commerce and exploration.

The Now

Born in 2917, Raane grew up captivated by the tales of Qi Ming, Tita Maxima, and the legendary celestial traveler Ophos—stories deeply embedded in his family’s heritage. His outstanding skills in economics, diplomacy, and astrophysics propelled him swiftly through the ranks of the White Lotus Corporation.

In 2947, the sudden retirement of the CEO created a leadership vacuum. Raane’s compelling vision, emphasizing trade as the cornerstone with exploration as vital support, convinced even the skeptics among the board members.
