History

Wayfinder Society was originally founded as 5G Corporation in 2950 from a loose alliance of miners, traders, and fighter pilots that had been working together to make a living in the Stanton System for years. Originally a small but tightly knit operation of family and friends, 5G Corporation filled mining and security contracts from larger entities. Several years went by and the Corporation developed a more explorative nature, inspired by the late 20th and early 21st century Star Trek series that crewmen would often watch between shifts. As time went on, the Corporation decided it had a higher calling: to explore the stars and find whatever’s out there. This shift in ideology ultimately resulted in 5G Corporations reformation into Wayfinder Society in 2953

Manifesto

To explore strange new worlds; to seek out new life and new civilizations; to boldly go where no one has gone before!

Charter

An excerpt of important Wayfinder Society General Orders and Regulations:

• General Order 1: Personnel should refrain from interfering with the development of non-warp capable species.

• General Order 2: On the approach of any vessel when communications have not been established, Wayfinder safety-of-personnel requirements indicate that said vessel should be treated as potentially hostile until proven otherwise, and in consequence a standard defensive posture should be adopted.

• General Order 3: Should conflict arise, personnel should always prioritize a diplomatic solution whenever possible.

• Order 104: In the absence of a starship’s assigned captain, a flag officer has the authority to assume command of the starship should they have deemed it necessary.

•Regulation 19: Regulation allowing an officer to take command of a starship if three conditions are met:
  1. When an imminent threat is detected
  2. When the lives of Wayfinder Society or UEE citizens are in danger
  3. When no other officers of equal or higher rank are present to mitigate the threat.

•Regulation 121a: The chief medical officer has the power to relieve an officer or crewman of his or her duties (including one of superior rank) if, in the CMO’s professional judgment, the individual is medically unfit, compromised by an alien intelligence, or otherwise exhibits behavior that indicates seriously impaired judgment. A Wayfinder officer can face court martial for failing to submit to such a relief.
