The Cathcart belt alpha is a wide asteroid belt in the Cathcart system. Located in the system's green band, it lacks any celestial bodies large enough to support the kind of atmosphere that would give rise to life. Astrophysicists believe that these asteroids grew from what little matter was left in Cathcart after the formation of its massive star.
