Gideon's belt (Virgil belt alpha) is the only asteroid belt in the Virgil system, located in Vanduul territory. While the system was part of the United Empire of Earth(UEE), deposits of iron, titanium, and other metals in the belt supported a modest mining industry that kept Cyrene (Virgil I) supplied with the raw materials needed to construct its settlements. Vanduul ships have been observed harvesting resources from the asteroids.
