Genesis II is a terrestrial planet in the developing Genesis system. Situated in the temperate green band around its star, it has oceans of liquid water interspersed with thickly forested continents. It was declared a protected planet under the Fair Chance Act (FCA) the same year it was discovered in 2812 due to the presence of multiple sentient species on its surface and in its seas. In 2942, cephalopod-like, ocean-dwelling creatures were observed exploring one of the landmasses. This sparked a violent confrontation with the dominant land-based species. As the conflict continues, scientists and academics have begun to question the morality of noninterference in the war as required by the FCA.
