Founded on Earth (Sol III) in SEY 2782 by programmer Magnus Tobin, it is headquartered in New Babbage on the planet microTech (Stanton IV), which the company privately owns. The planet's cold temperature is ideal for the microTech's heat-sensitive computing and manufacturing centers. Widespread use of their products has made it the current largest computer and software developer in the United Empire of Earth (UEE).
