E'tam is a recreational drug that is used by the Xi'an to slow body function and sharpen awareness, allowing the user to enter a deep meditative space. Derived from the leaves of the e'tam plant, which are then fermented and sun dried, e'tam is placed in the mouth and the drug is slowly absorbed through the mucus membrane. It is most commonly used by dedicated followers of Li'tova. In Humans, e'tam acts as a stimulant that can cause hyper awareness, increased cognitive function, emotional dysregulation, and hyper focus so strong that users may neglect to eat, sleep, or take care of basic bodily functions. The sale of e'tam is illegal in the United Empire of Earth (UEE).
