History

From Humble Beginnings

The Derbyshire Starship Owners Club was founded in AD 2902, in the small English county of Derbyshire, back home on Earth. Conceived by the very finest Derbyshire born-and-bred elite Star Citizens, DSOC set it’s sights on the stars, preparing itself for the wonders that would await.

Initially founded by Luke Downing and Joel Fryer, two former employees of fabrication and maintenance company Stone & Redson, along with the infamous Bull Brothers, renowned around the ‘Verse as incredibly deadly fighter pilots, DSOC had an auspicious start in life. An early jaunt into the exploration and trading world quickly brought this small 4-man org burgeoning success. Now with branches and activities in the milita sector as well as a profitable salvage industry, DSOC has grown to be a recognised and trusted venture. The original members, now known as the ‘First Four’ are still active members of the org, and engage with every sector of activity.

Luke Downing

Luke Downing made it into the record books with the fastest rise to Admiralty ever seen in the private organisation sector. His battlefield presence and tactical command ability are unmatched, and has resulted in more than 20 victories for his org that battle scholars and tacticians had called ‘unwinnable’. His command of the Constellation also granted DSOC several honors from the UEE’s primary Exploration Society for the discovery and initial recording of several previously uncharted worlds. Although he is grandmaster strategist, he is no stranger to the front lines himself. Best known as a lethal Super Hornet pilot, he has garnered a great deal of respect for his ability. Within the org, taking on a Super Hornet pilot and losing has become known as ‘getting Down’ed’, in reference to the Admiral.

Joel Fryer

Joel Fryer rose to fame renowned as one of the best Gladiator pilots the UEE has ever seen. Always on target and eager to deliver a deadly payload, he has won over many an outnumbered battle with his quick trigger finger and sturdy flight skills. Whilst he has a tendency to get a little lost in the midst of battle and find himself somewhat surrounded, he has come to rely heavily on his orgmates to bail him out of a sticky situation. In bars around the ‘Verse, you will often hear him tell of the time he singlehandedly took down an entire Bengal carrier, along with its fighter complement in his trusty Gladiator. No one knows the accuracy of this story, and despite Joel’s insistence as to its authenticity, his orgmates enjoy the tale, whilst being sure to remind him of the countless times they have saved his ass from the Vanduul.

Andrew Bull

Andrew Bull, more commonly referred to within the org as ‘Drewman’ is the resident mechanic and engineer in charge of the repairs and maintenance of the org’s vessels. If it’s broke. Drew can fix it. With an unparalleled aptitude for understanding the inner workings of starships, Drew is in his element when fixing what seems unfixable. His crowning achievement, one that is regularly celebrated within the org, was the time he managed a full jump drive rebuild in space whilst EVA. Oh yeah, and after being shot in the leg in a bar. And after fending off a pack of Vanduul Scythe’s. Needless to say, DSOC is happy to have Drew in its ranks, and watching their backs. With the intelligence and mechanical prowess Drew possesses, he has declined offers from many prestigious technological institutions in favour of remaining with DSOC. Drew always says that his home is aboard his Reclaimer, with his orgmates.

Peter Bull

The younger of the Bull Brothers, Peter, is DSOC’s superstar pilot. With almost inhuman reaction times and reflexes, the org has never seen a pilot as good as Peter. After acing every test at flight school, Peter blasted through the ranks of Army service and became a feared pilot across the ‘Verse. One of DSOC’s most popular stories revolves around Peter’s first flight for the org. Faced with a seething horde of Vanduul, Peter systematically obliterated their ranks, ship-by-ship until the remaining fighters staggered off, barely managed to jump away. Upon re-landing at the org’s hanger, it became apparent that the ship had only suffered minor damage to the paintwork on the hull, and one manoeuvring thruster had been knocked 4 millimetres out of line. It has been witnessed by the org that many Vanduul strike teams purposely avoid confrontation with Peter, even when they vastly outnumber him. They learned their lesson.

The Future of DSOC

Rumour has it that DSOC member Luke Downing has also recently been in talks with his younger brother, possibly with a mind to recruiting him to the org. Time will tell whether the legendary ability to command and fight runs in the family, or whether DSOC will soon have its new Chief Toilet Officer.

Manifesto

The intentions of DSOC change to suit the needs of members. Often, exploration and discovery are key activities. Whilst DSOC class themselves as elite citizens, they are not prejudice or demeaning of others. On the contrary, they often help others where possible, unless such action would bring them knowingly outside of UEE law.

Charter

All members of DSOC

are required to pay out a monthly sum to the organisation dependent upon their earnings. This goes into a pot used to pay for organisation expenses, such as starship upgrades and repairs.

Only the ‘First Four’…

have unrestricted access to DSOC’s funding, goals and objectives. Any additional members should always respect superiors and not step above or attempt to overrule commands given. The founders take care to treat all members fairly and show no form of prejudice or bias.**
